You may have read our review in the January issue of PERFORMING MUSICIAN (SOS's sister magazine), so you know how much we liked this system. Now you can win one of your own thanks to Turbosound.

Turbosound is a leading designer and manufacturer of professional loudspeaker systems with an impressive user list of major international artistes and prestigious installations around the world. Their award-winning designs have often been developed around unorthodox principles, using "a natural approach to the art of acoustical and electronic engineering", and they have been awarded many design patents over the years.

Turbosound is a major player in the large-scale touring market, having sold more than 20,000 loudspeaker systems, including their acclaimed Floodlight and Flashlight cabinets and the new Aspect point-source models. Their new TXP range, however, consists of portable self-powered speakers aimed at live sound, corporate rental and mobile DJ applications.

The TXP range is made up of three models: the TXP-121and TXP-151 are active full-range and/or mid/high units, which can be paired with the TXP-118 active subwoofer. Up for grabs in our fantastic Turbosound giveaway is a pair of TXP-151 top boxes (£998 each inc VAT) and a pair of TXP-118 subs (£940 each inc VAT), making up a highly compact, pro-performance, powerhouse rig.

The TXP-151 features a single 15-inch cone driver with a one-inch HF compression driver mounted above, contained within a 15mm birch plywood trapezoidal cabinet, which also houses a 450W Class-D power amplifier and input module. Although a passive crossover (at 1.6kHz) is used, a single top cab can generate an impressive 124dB continuous SPL (130dB peak).

The TXP-118 sub uses the same power amplifier section as the TXP-151, but with a modified front end -- the mode switch, which in the top cab determines the bottom-end roll-off, is used to engage a filter, which sets the upper -3dB cutoff at either 95Hz or 125Hz, with the response extending downwards to 45Hz at -3dB (38Hz at -10dB). The 18-inch driver is reflex-loaded in a birch plywood enclosure, which, like the others in the range, has a full metal grille and black textured paint finish.

All components, many of which are designed and manufactured exclusively for Turbosound, are individually tested prior to assembly, and each completed product is listened to by a trained technician, as well as having to pass a comprehensive computerised test. All of which no doubt contributes to Turbosound's unrivalled worldwide reputation for reliability, innovation and quality.

To win this fabulous PA system, just answer the three simple questions and get creative with the tie-breaker. Closing date for entries is 30 April 2008.
