i don't remember when/if minusme aounced it, but i discovered the world map today. has it been there long?
we had plays from some pretty random places. Tazmania. and here i though that was just a horrible cartoon. had a few from Indonesia and one from China. that's the one that got me. maybe it was a real estate investor who wishes to invest in property in Thailand. there is some sort of real estate development company (or something like that) based out of Thailand that seems to be well-known throughout SE asia. i discovered that one time when going through my referrer log.
anyhow, the world map is about my favorite toy at the moment. |

Thanks. I haven't announced it yet, it's still in 'testing'. I will probably send out an email once I'm comfortable that all is well. |

yeah, minusme, love this world map. it's an absolutely brilliant idea. at least i think so. it's cool to see all of the absolute random places where people are listening. all places one would never expect to have listeners.
no need to reply since we've already played this game before. just wanted to restate my approval. i also love maps, so this is almost like the ultimate in fun for me. lame, i know. |

Thanks, it was a really 'fun' feature to develop.
I'm thinking about how to expand it so you can share where your listeners are from, like a small mini-map in a banner, or maybe a displayable map on your artist page so your page visitors can see the map as well. |

yeah, that'd be an excellent feature. also, it'd be great advertising for the site. i'd put something like that on our myspace profile. i think other bands would think it's pretty cool. good thinking! |

Wow. I love this. Specific songs and in which cities they were played and/or downloaded. I have been wanting this for a long, long time.
Another site I'm on will tell its VIP members the countries their visitors came from and list the songs played and downloaded. But that's it. In four years I've been played in 98 countries-- but how many cities? 100? 1,000? 10,000? No way of knowing.
I have always wanted to know the names of the cities so I can put pins in my wall map.
I also love the idea that we may someday be able to display the map on our page.
I have a couple of questions, though: what is the time frame? Are the cities listed currently the cumlative total? If so, is there a way to rest them in case the map gets too cluttered?
The world map is a great feature, at any rate. |
