This isn't an album for lovers of the D4L, Cam'ron, or Lil Jon. This album digs deeper than archaeologists in the Mariana Trench.
It's intelligent, yet he doesn't smear his intelligence all over the album. It's spacey rap to the nth degree.....like if Brian Eno or Emir Deodato, circa 1979, actually rapped over their own beats, with a slightly offbeat, but hella nice flow.
Or a teenaged El-P, high on crack. It's that serious.
I'm trying to better describe the music.....what if Space Mountain was real, and on Neptune, and music was played on loud speakers. This would be the soundtrack. Now...it's abrasive at first, only cohesive in theme..... and the WTF factor could be high, if your ear is trained to the likes of Fabolous or 50 Cent.
But for those looking for a change of pace in your hip hop variety, or just chill out.....this is the album for you.
It just is what it is. Straight hip hop....and it's official. And it mad cheap!

the music is chill, but he kind of sounds like he's drunk, but not in a good way.
the bass flubbs a lot at it's lowest points, and i say that knowing that i have both a decent sound card and good speakers. it's okay for sitting around your room, out of your gourd on a weeknight, but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing would translate well live. maybe i'm wrong, though. |
