well, they didn't start it all exactly. you can go back to stockhausen and the russians were also already experimenting with electronic music as well. i guess it depends on what you mean with start. although different, tangerine dream had already been making music for a few years already. i think they were the first to incorporate that sort of digital & pop sound successfully. it inspired new wave. anyone jump in and let me know if i'm off base. |

kraftwerk are not the first to have the idea making music with chips but they were the first to make it popular by releasing an electronica cd that has been sold all other the planet, i'm sure a lot of peoples before it happens would have liked their chip music to make an international release like them...a little story says that kraftwerk has made a cd that its record house didn't want to release because it was not good enought. |
