Thanatos, sorry, I'm not into the sound, but I understand alot of the newer metal sounds often have something like a POD in the signal chain. Some of the mags will interview bands and often they'll talk about the signal chain they use.

If your loooking at sound from a guitar....this is what i would recommend..its the Line 6 PODXT live.........follow the link below....

http://line6.com/podxtlive/

But i use...Line 6 GuitarPort for the PC only and it has downloads from Line 6 that you can use in the software for metal sounds...but, live performance I use Behringer's new V-AMP2 amp modeler...I would recommend that one..but not much in the way of Black Metal sounds.....hope this helps!!

I use a line 6 guitarport too, check out my artist page for an example of the sort of black metal rhythm guitar you can get through it.

For Bound I used the Line 6 Spinal Puppet amp and 2x12 1965 Blackface cabinet with a Screamer stompbox. If you want the exact settings of distortion, treble etc... I could take a screenshot.

yeah that would be cool.......a screenshot would be the best, not trying to steal your tone man, just like the sound of it....lol
i know that line 6 has those packs you can buy, but, damn they are expensive, and i usually go on the line 6 custom tone page and snag some tones there....but some are ok and others arent, an example of some of the tones ive worked with is at
www.myspace.com/larrygunn
those tones are mostly used with several different effects, but if you were interested in any of them...i could also take a screenshot and post it here if ya wanted....

you need real pro gear bro. PODS are good but won't compare to the best gear.

Bogner Uberschall
Mesa Boogie 4x12

good guitar.. ibanez, b.c. rich

of course if you don't have thousands to spend on gear, the POD is a really good way to go. it's also great for other stuff other than Black Metal. i've never played metal a day in my life but own the POD XT Live. sounds great and is easy to use, especially if you have a PC.

of course if you have the money, getting the gear is the best bet. i'd go so far as to promote the gear, plus the POD.

yeah, the Pod XT is a good piece of gear. Basically what I meant was if your trying to get a REAL metal sound out of a Fender Twin or Marshall combo and a strat or shitty guitar.. just a pedal won't do it.

But descent gear made for that sound and some good pedals like the XT or some stomp box would be grand.

i totally know what you meant, man, and wholeheartedly agree. if you can swing it, you should always get the best gear you can for sure. the POD is nice because for like $400 you can get a world of sounds out of it. probably the best of all worlds would be to get the good gear AND get the POD. that would be tight! just noticed you mentioned the same thing. Laughing

Thanatos, good luck and keep us posted on what you go with. peace! Very Happy
