Hey All,
I wrote this one on July 15th. It's another song I wrote that deals with frustration, and it seems to speak for itself, though it's still symbolic. It's titled, "Podium". Feedback is welcome, as always.
"Podium"
I fear what I say.
To stutter is imperfection.
I'm afraid I'll do so much more.
I remain here, anyway.
Observations of my deformation
create opinions not sought after.
Beads of sweat upon me,
rolling down, and palms slippery.
Each time I grasp the mic'
I lose grip,-
(Chorus):
Behind the Podium.
I'm thinking, "Disaster."
A pandemonium
lies inside. I feel battered.
I never placed my feet on a pedestal.
I've only known the floor.
That's what I prefer.
But my podium could, very well be knocked over.
They think what I say
is another said indescretion.
They make me feel like a new-born.
Still I stand with shaky knees,
in front of them and everyone.
They see the fear, but words they never hear.
Frantically, I talk loudly.
Eye the crowd, they won't look at me.
They only look at past times,
when I wasn't,-
(Chorus)
(Bridge):
You judge me.
Suddenly,
I can't breathe.
I'm gasping.
You're busy,
divulging
in all things
that pass me
by...
It's true.
(*The previous part is repeated once more)
Pay more attention...,
now that I'm truly standing here,-
(Chorus)
(If ever recorded, this whole next part will be barely audible, unless listened closely to):
I try to reach out.
You ignore and remember,
when I stood right here,
but wasn't really here at all.
I call on you to listen,
but all you hear is echoing.
I need you to hear me.
I'm begging you, "Hear my call,
before you push...,
my podium down on me."

Critique, Share thoughts, etc. I hope you enjoyed this, and I've got a poem inspired by this song that I'm gonna post sometime today, and one more song. That one is a re-work of a much older song, and I think the newer version of it is a better piece of lyrics than this. Thanks.
Cheers and a smile, All!

Thanks much. I've kind of disappeared a little in the last week or so, but yeah... I'll definitely check out more of your lyrics sometime soon. Cheers!

While offline, I realized I forgot to explain the meaning of the word podium. It's basically a desk-like, platform structure, that's usually made of wood, and people who are speaking to a crowd stand behind it. Sometimes, there's a microphone on the top of it, for the speaker. Many of the world's leaders use them when they address their country, the media, etc. I think I worded that in a way that won't be confusing. Cheers again!
