I was dancing in the fire,
Now I'm standing in the ashes,
And the scorched ground seems to cry out,
As I'm reaching for the matches,
The words never seemed so interesting,
Untill they were up in flames,
And the smoke reaches out to no-where,
As the fire burns our names,
The words never seemed so interesting,
Untill they were up in flames,
And the smoke reaches out to no-where,
As we play our fire games,
I was breathing in the smoke,
And the stench of my own failure,
I feel myself grow weary,
As I burn away 5 years,
The words never seemed so interesting,
Untill they were up in flames,
And the smoke reaches out to no-where,
As the fire burns our names,
The words never seemed so interesting,
Untill they were up in flames,
And the smoke reaches out to no-where,
As we play our fire games,
Fire games. |

This lines is one of my favorites. Its one of those lines that when you read it you get jealous that you didnt come up with it:
"I was dancing in the fire,
Now I'm standing in the ashes,"

Thanks man.
This is a reincarnation of an older song.
I have a new song up here if you want to check it out...

Hey Tom,
In my opinion, it's not the best that I've read by you, thus far. However, it's still incredible, and don't let my opening comment lessen how good you think it is. I'd say that a lot of your songs are around the same quality as one another, in my eyes, and then others are much better. I love the chorus. I will say something to you, that you have said to me about certain lines in some of my lyrics, about that chorus: Brilliant. The last comment I'll give you is that this song left enough room for others to be able to interpret it, and relate to it in their own way. I know I did. I can totally relate to feelings of failure, and I wish you the best with overcoming any of them that still remain. Cheers!

This was actually about burning all my old school books and getting wasted. |

That's interesting. Honestly, I never would've guessed it was about that. Cheers!
