Someone took me for a six,
Some pathetic politics,
A few Richards, bunch of Dicks,
Jack's above the waistline kicks.
I'd never play that business game,
No dignity it's far too tame.
To waste my life would be a shame,
Working for figures that stay the same.
Sunshine for the Superman,
If anybody cocoa can,
There's much of this grammar ban,
Rhyming is my nonsense plan.
Anarchy the USA,
I want a burger everyday,
What do all the people say,
Whatever they can to get away |

Hey Jack,
I'm from the U.S. Now, after me saying that just now, you might be expecting me to say something like "Hey! Don't talk about the U.S. like that!" I could care less though. Yes, I care that our country seems to be getting weaker, as far as being a super-power goes, but Bush needs major improvement. I wouldn't say it's anarchy, but that's almost what it could lead to. All it would take is one of the terrorists, or someone who sees him as trying to "police" the world, to come to America and fulfill a plot to take us over. I seriously hope our next president can "clean up," otherwise I'm a little worried that we could transition into a new communist nation, and that is a pretty scary thought. I feel like an idiot, too. It was my first year getting to cast a vote for the presidency, and at that time, it seemed like a good decision to vote for him. If only I had a time machine.....
But this isn't a thread to discuss the flaws of our "great president." You posted a song, and that's what should be discussed. First of all, I like political music. It's very thought provoking, and it's message can reach many people. I wrote a song today that is very political (title- "Lurk Enemy Chains"). If you've seen my other posts, you know there weren't any songs like that posted on this board. Reason being, I've only written two. I agree with Ron about your play on words in the beginning of the song. -Very enjoyable. I am a little curious about the line, "There's much of this grammar ban". Were you referring to the FCC and censorship? If so, I am in complete agreement with you. The FCC went crazy because of the Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident, I think they went overboard with being uptight after that.
Lastly, I'm also curious about the very last part of the song. The four lines just before the end. I'm not offended, but I know one thing... If I ate burgers every day, I'd be sick every day too. Not that I'm the healthiest eater, but still. The last line was another that was hard for me to decipher. The people here are starting to get very fed-up with the president, and the war, among other things, and I'm noticing that they're beginning to get stirred up, more and more. I've heard Bush's poll ratings are gradually going down. I'm thinking that if all of the crap goes on for too much longer, there's gonna' be a protest period again, that's similar to the Vietnam era. That doesn't appeal to me, in the least. Anyway, I hope this reply didn't bore you to death, cause' I do tend to go off on tangents when I post. I'll check back here, in case you explain the parts of the song that I was wondering about. Great song, though. Cheers, Jack!

I was referring to censorship but hadn't heard of the FCC until I searched for it. The government sucks everywhere and here we have the monarchy too. In my opinioin we're all brothers and sisters and it isn't fair that some people have so much money and others are dying of starvation. |

Exactly... Here, our government talks about capitalism being basically flawless. If that's the case, then I don't understand how there are so many people in America who live in poverty, including the same hunger you're talking about. It's like the majority of those who have money, here or anywhere, are in love with it to a point where they could care less about anyone who knows that poverty. At the same time, I've heard worse things about Socialism, and I'd rather die than be under any Communist ruler/rulers. I think maybe the theorists who deal with economic systems should devise a better system, because I see flaws in all of them. -Not just Communism. I don't know... I hope someday all these problems can be solved, but that doesn't seem anywhere near realistic.
Ok, I'm gonna go read and reply to some more lyrics now. I just thought I should check this thread to see if anything was said in response to my reply. I'll be checking out more of your lyrics, also. Cheers, Jack!
