Im desperate for new music, the scenes quite bland at the moment.
SO! i thought i'd post something where people could direct each other towards new up and comings bands that deserve to be found and appreciated!
plus selfishly i want to hear some new music! everyones a winner......
so heres my recommendation - www.coloursrun.com
I saw them at glass bar at the weekend. and theyre frickin immense.
a mate dragged me along cos he'd seen them a few weeks b4 and hadn't shut up since. but im so glad i went. im going to see them again without a doubt at night and day cafe on july 1st. you should come.
Now tell me your new favourite band and also let me know what you think of colours run. |

12 Stone Toddler (If you're into total surrealism back to back with tight musicianship).
I'm listening to Babshambles tonight and I'd avoid it like the f***ing plague! |

I'd like to amend last post and also say Witchercreek...only cause they kidnapped me in the middle of the night and threatened to make me listen to one of my old tracks if I didn't mention them |

I've been a fan of King Street Hobo for a while now. He doesn't gig much, which is a shame because his guitar playing is some of the best I've seen. He plays an acoustic guitar like it's electic rhythm and electric lead at the same time - pretty impressive. His sound is pretty bluesy, and I can't help feeling he'd get recognised quicker in America than he would here.
They're actually pretty bloody good. I've just heard the streaming songs on the front page, but I'm really impressed by the guy's voice. I'm getting bits of Nick Cave mixed with Athlete, who I never thought I'd mention in the same sentence. The lyrics are pretty nice too. I think that's something a lot of unsigned bands don't give enough attention to, so it's nice to hear stuff like this. Beautiful Waste Of Time really tickles me. |

If anybody is still checkin' out this thread, I got 2 bands for ya... Team Sleep- Deftones side project, and The Transplants- Blink 182 side project, but the song on the radio is not too punk rock, if at all. If anybody checks out more by the second band, maybe you could let me know if they have other good tracks? I've only heard the one, so far. Cheers, cheers, and music!

erm... just no.
The transplants are so terrible. They try to hard to be 'punk'... and their music is shit.
Team sleep, however... I like. The album is mellow. Reminds me of deftones - white pony. I've been listening to ever (foreign flag) alot lately.
If I had to recomend an unsigned band, it would be The Fatal Mistake. Not only because I sort of know the bassist... but because they do what they do (pop-punk) to perfection.
I honestly think they are a band to watch. Check out the 3 tracks on the page. 'High Wall Falling' is probably the best of the 3. |

Man, I haven't heard anything by The Transplants except "Gangsta's and Thugs", so I don't know what the rest of their album sounds like, but I really do like that song. See, I'm not majorly into punk-rock music, so to me it just sort of sounds like a different form of alternative rock. It's just faster, and more upbeat. I'm not trying to be aggressive, because there are many bands I can't stand. It's all based on a music listener's opinion. I do, however, admire Travis Barker for his drumming ability. That man is crazy.
Also, I have another band that I thought of, who are pretty new, and they're not that bad. Kaddisfly. They sound like a mix between Incubus, during the time of "Morning View", and a band I actually found too be ridiculous quickly after I heard them: Alien Ant Farm. If you wanna' check em' out, I'd suggest two songs to start out with. The first, "Midnight in Shanghai" is very mellow. It reminded me a lot of the Incubus track, "Echo", but different from that song in many ways. Also, I really liked the song, "Saturated". It too, is mellow, but it's a very cool sounding musical piece. Check it out, if you feel compelled to. Cheers!

Go to www.theinklings.co.uk a brilliant new band from birmingham who deserve to be heard. They have a gig at The Actress and Bishop in Birmingham on July 9th. Definitely need to heard live as the website only gives a small example of this bands capabilities. The website is easy to navigate and has some good artwork on there to. I highly recommend them.the inklings official website |

sorry for putting up so many forums and discussons on the inklings but I dont really know what I'm doing. I am a mate of the band and want them to do well just got a bit carried away with it all. If you know of any other good unsigned bands just let me know it would be nice to hear up and coming talent. Once again sorry to all those sick of seeing too many forums on the inklings, hey it helps to promote your friends. |
