Down with Domestic Violence!
I'm down with domestic violence! are you? Razz

But seriously... Last Friday night was the coolest night anyone could possibly have. I went to Otsego high school to say hi to people and teachers. I was expecting to go to Chris’s afterward but he had homework (or so he says) so went to Isaac's house for a while until Chris was done with his 'homework'. We "jammed" and I 'played' the drums for a while, and when the time came, we set off for an adventure!

We went to Chris’s house, and then the 3 of us got in Chris’s car, with 2 acoustic guitars, maracas, and a harmonica, and we set off to bowling green! We parked downtown, got out of the car with our stuff (and burned a 'sacred' symbol pointlessly in the eyes of no one) and went to the streets of downtown bowling green. just as we started to play, we were approached by 3 strange but very nice Jesus pushers who asked the three of us "if you died today, are you 100% positive you would go to heaven" I somehow held back my giant erg to say "hey, I’m a Buddhist man"(I’m not but I like Buddhism) and responded with "morally, sure" which meant "if I believed in it, yes". And then they touched our shoulders and asked us to repeat some prayer, I said nothing, and Chris was weak and actually repeated the words. One of them winked at me when they saw I wasn’t saying anything but was politely standing there anyway. I should have protested against their forceful religion pushing but they were nice and had good intentions I guess. But that is what organized religion is! It is based on "repeat after me..." with no questioning allowed. But oh well. In the end Chris and Isaac (he is actually slightly religious so it was ok for him) were blessed by the promise that right then and there, by repeating some words by 3 nicely strange people, all their sins were forgiven. So all their hard work was lost. As for me, I felt proud to stand up for my personal beliefs without being impolite. Well anyway we moved ourselves to Main Street and started playing some songs in front of a bank.

Bowling Green gained a musical madness that could only be achieved by 3 crazy kids with super insane creative tendencies. We made up songs about bowling green and other green things, until people actually started giving us money! The first person to give us money gave us 3 dollars! After we recovered from flipping out we played even crazier music, including some CSS songs. While I mainly stuck to maracas and harmonica because the whole thing was Chris and Isaacs initial idea, Chris and Isaac played guitar. We all sang, and at some point we had a crowed as we played in front the bank. But THEN we saw a group of protesters walking through the town! And some crazy person said "hey! You should like go follow them man!" so we DID!

We ran through downtown with our insterments toward the protesters, of which what they were protesting was unknown to us at this time. We finally caught up to them and read their picket signs. "Down with Domestic Violence" and "Stop Date Rape" were some of the captions included in the dozens of sings being displayed by the protesters. Also they were armed with clever chants such as "two, four, six, eight, we hate date rape!" and many other which I can’t remember. So when we caught up to them, we started playing music to their chants! With Chris and Isaac on guitar, and I on harmonica and maracas, we supported the fight against domestic violence. Chris and Isaac started singing the along to the chants as about 5 of the protesters took pictures of us. We received a very positive reaction from the protesters, which was a bit unexpected. After miles of protesting, we decided to go back to Main Street and continue our crazy music. On the way we played the protest song singing "two four six eight, god hates date rape, its bad for your soul!". After being blessed, Chris and Isaac thought the lyric change was in order.

So we set ourselves up at the corner of Main and Wooster and continued our musical madness. MORE people gave us money as we sang 'the liquorish stick' song. People rolled their windows down in passing cars, some girls even through money at us from their cars (the same girls, multiple times, from multiple cars, which perplexed us) it was SUPER fun! We got many requests including 'sweet home Alabama'(YUCK!) we changed it to sweet home Oklahoma for some reason. Also someone asked us to play 'all along the watchtower' and we did and they were happy. We were also randomly rapped at by Slim Shady himself. After receiving tons of support from random drunk people, it got to be around 11pm so we decided to take our earnings and go to Taco Bell. All in all we received about 15 dollars for our musical contribution to the city of Bowling Green. We decided that we have to do this often! Well I’m sure Chris and Isaac will continue on without me when I return to England. We went to Chris’s house and watch Reservoir Dogs, and then I went home at 3am and didn’t go to sleep at all, because sleeping is over rated.

Well that was my Friday. I hope you enjoyed it too.
Bye for now
