Finally, I've gotten around to recording another full-length song (I know, it hasn't been too long since "Beyond Words," but I've been working on this one for a very long time)!
"Why?" was the first song I ever wrote. Ever. I was eleven or twelve years old and my "girlfriend" (meaning... I held hands with her on the playground) broke up with me. I was heartbroken; enough so that it encouraged me to write a song.
This one was initially a sappy "what'd I do wrong?" love ballad, but several years later, I've turned it into something great. "Why?" is now a spiteful attack on the girl and even makes fun of the original song.
The original chorus:
Why, oh why
Just tell me why
I don't know why you left me
The new chorus:
Why
Tell me why
I don't know why I'm so strung up on losing you
In any case, give it a listen and let me know what you think.
Thanks!

Yo-hey, Maisie.....
Damn man, I missed your tunes.
A great "lookin' outta the window and wishin' stuff was right" song. Total respect for another fabulous song.
Love and respect,

Glad you like it, Brooksy. I always appreciate your input!
Anyone else? This song has been played twice. TWICE!

LOL Maisie.... All the Mods are away and somehow I missed your post.
I just gave a listen to "beyond words".
I thought the intro was very well done, I really like the melody of the acoustic guitar, and the little solo. Around .47 seconds you went to a 'cleaner' guitar sound, which IMHO doesn't sound as good as the first. (Perhaps a touch too thin?? or maybe lack of reverb) I thought the vocal melody was good, but they could be raised just a touch in the mix!
Overall I think this song is one of the best I've heard by you! The melody is unique and the song has a nice flow.

I understand this song is questioning and searching for answers, so there is gonna be some winy parts, but in parts I cant really understand the words and it just kinda wines and gets annoying. Now, Im just giving you an honest opinion. As an artist myself, if people lie to me it does me no good. I need honest opinions. The reason I noticed the wine is cause I fall into that sometimes myself when Im trying to sing a little out of my range. It starts to get nasal, thus becoming a wine. I hope this helps.
Please feel free to review any of my material, I got some wine in mine too...
