Hi, this is Jamie from Good Road Ahead. I just created a site here and I was wondering if I could get some feedback for the songs. The songs are at http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/1882/

First off, I'd like to say welcome to the Unsigned Band Web.

Listening to "Roof Tops"

Good Solid guitar line. Drummer seems solid. Bass lines are good. Vocals remind me of something.. really can't place what though. They are good though. Only complaint I have is the way the kick drum is mixed. really dry, and is standing out way too much for my taste. hurts my ears a little. could just be these headphones though.

Overall good track. Keep it up.

Thanks for the comment. We record at a home studio (its actually just an 8-track) and only have two mics right now. But once we get extra mics (and hopefully better ones too) we can try some different techniques with the drums.

just checkin "learn the ropes". whole recording sounds a bit dry, i think it can use a richer mix. guitars are very nice, bass is also good. beats are also well done, snares need to be less loud though. vocals are silent at some parts however they're well done too..

so overall except a few recording issues this is a good song, well done, keep it coming. i especially dig the solo's. good stuff.

welcome to the ubw!!

peace.

Hey there. thanks for posting. honest comments, no BS:

listening to "learn the ropes" - like the intro. intereesting changes. I really like the variations in what the guitar is doing. raw but skilled playing. nice tune. Vocal is a little rough for my tastes, but alot of indie stuff doesn't have a polished vocal - might be what you're going for. Again, I keep coming back to the fine guitar playing, song changes and overall groove. nicely done tune. Sounds very different on my headphones than on PC speakers - drums stand out big time on headphones - probably want to check your mix on different sources.

listening to Roof Tops. Reminds me of Hendrix Foxy Lady right off the bat. Same comment concerning drums in mix as above. Drums stand out even more here. On both tunes I like the overall interaction between all the instruments. Like the vocals better here. blends better imho.

Overall, liked learn the ropes best of the two tunes. thanks for posting

I just uploaded a new mix of "Learn the Ropes", it has back up vocals in the outro. Part of feels like the vox are to loud, but part of me thinks there not. Check it out http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/1882/
