I have an instrument called "Qeej" and it's made of bamboo and mahogany wood. If the instrument is not being played everyday, the bamboo will get dry and change the tune or simply not working at all. I need some time of steam case or machine that will keep this instrument moist or not so dry all the time. Is there such a case or machine?

wow! of all the questions you could have asked, you ask this one, which might be difficult to answer, since not many of us play the Qeej! lol

i'm not so sure you would really need a steam machine or anything like that. believe it or not, but if you play an acoustic guitar, you need to keep a certain level of moisture there as well; otherwise, you can end up with one of several problems over the long-term. but you're needs are more immediate that those of the guitar. i was thinking you might just want to get a humidifier for the room where you store your instrument...especially if you have AC on throughout the summer. one disadvantage to having all the air piped in is that it's always dry. other than that, you could probably fashion a small humidifier for it by taking a stretch of rubber tube with a smaller diameter than the instrument, and you fill it with sponges, capping both ends afterward. you don't want to have the sponges packed too tightly. you can then moisten the sponge inside, and then place it inside the instrument, making sure that no water is leaking onto the instrument to avoid water damage.

hope this will give you some ideas and good luck! Cool

aaahhh. I googled "qeej storage" thinking I might get something, but turns out the Qeej is prominently used in funerals and qeej storage turned up a post about storage of dead bodies! sorry, my best attempt went awry
