hey man. welcome to the forums. i'm not a huge reggae fan, but there's quite a bit i enjoy. i really enjoy the stuff the Wailers did back in the 60's, which i guess is more r & B driven ska. great music, though. i also like what reggae i've heard from the early to mid 70's. i also have some african reggae compilations that i find to be excellent. i'd have to search for them. it's been a while since i broke them out. but west african reggae is great stuff. i used to listen to Afro-Pop Worldwide on PRI affiliates.

a lot of the newer reggae just doesn't feel right to me. but music evolves how it evolves, eh? i know there are a lot of really talented up-and-coming reggae artists (can't name 'em lol), as i've checked a few out a music festivals. i guess it's the stuff that has co-opted jam band elements that i think of as reggae nowadays. are there still people out there doing a more 'traditional' reggae? i know that a lot of the african reggae is still pretty raw in that it's pretty stripped down. not a lot of guitar effects and what have you. also not much of a dub influence either.

have you found any reggae artists on the Unsigned Band Web that you like? if you have any tips on some good african reggae or newer artists doing more 'stripped down' stuff, drop some names.

again, welcome to the forums. Very Happy
