Over the past few years, the band has enjoyed alot of success online. Their songs have topped various charts and their number one tally is now in double figures!! September '08 sees the release of 'wasting time - special edition'. This version of the album features updated versions and bonus tracks. **updated songs and bonus tracks, 17 track CD** '''Second place''' is a punk rock/alternative rock band from the UK. The band was originally formed in 2003 with the name 'Breaking the Rules'. Breaking the Rules released a self distributed EP titled, 'The Longest EP in the History of Mankind' and featured 27 demos, some that would later be rerecorded in the studio. The style of music was more 'old' punk and was very raw and unproduced; which was the intended style. The band received a lot of plays and positive reviews. Front man Dean 'Deano' Hall teamed up with Chase Matthews and started a side project called 'Reckless Jerry' (Dean changed his name to Randy Azell for this project.). Reckless Jerry, still to this day get a large amount of interest on the Internet, so much so Sony Records had even contacted them! This was the catalyst that spurned on the band that exists now. ---- == New Album 2008 == Second Place, still unsigned released their first self-produced album, 'Thumbs Up' in 2007. It was greeted with rave reviews and spawned 11 number 1 songs on various online cherts. In 2008, they did the same again and released 'Wasting Time' which is a more accomplished offering, boasting a constant string of chart toppers beating many top signed bands that get airplay on radio stations every day. Second place have an amazing amount of supporters in other countries considering they have never performed outside of the UK. Although still unsigned, the band has high hopes that the new album will bring them some recognition and the elusive record/distribution deal that they have worked so hard to get. The band line up has always been a little confusing. The main members are Dean 'Deano' Hall and Chase Matthews. There have been other members, mainly for either recording or live appearances. When live, Cassandra Dulake from 'The Dee Dee's' on drums and Sam Browne from 'Tequila Mockingbird' on bass and second vocalist. In the studio, Deano is lead vocals and plays all the instruments with the help of Chase on some guitars and vocals. The actual live line-up now is unknown.
