some security stuff!

i'd like to share my -htaccess file with you along with some comments! i had withing 2 days 30 gigs of unwanted traffic due to deeplinking to a 3 mb flash file which got posted on some retarded forum!

this parts tells the server to enable the rewrite_mod for apache, you have to have this installed to be able to use it, most hosting companies have it installed!

the upper block will allow the following sites to be able to link to resources on www.rydoka.com
http://www.rydoka.com/*
http://www.rydoka.com*
http://www.voice-ofthe-raven.com/*
http://www.euronuke.com/*
http://protector.warcenter.se/*
watch the /* and the *
the google entry will allow google to link pics on the site when searching/indexing your site!

RewriteRule \.(gif|jpe?g|png|zip|arj|tar|exe|swf)$ http://www.rydoka.com/bad-ref.gif [R,L]
this will put an image on any site you didnt allow to have links to your site replacing all sources from your site with a picture which are jpq, gif, uip, arj, tar, exe! you can put like mpg, wmv, mov, ram and so on, too! depending what you want to be blocked from being deeplinked to your site!

SetEnvIfNoCase Referer ".*(flabber|hutsefruts|ratiatum|gathering|tweakers|matthias|nedstatbasic|sydox|nieuwsupdate|nieuwstracker|lastpak|hack|hacker).*" BadReferer
this will block any referere to your site which have any of the words in their URL linking to you!!! here you also prevent other search engines from linking to you!
order allow,deny
the following lines will block any host with ending on the mentioned parts of the host name! again, here you can e. g. stop certain data mining bots from accessing your site, i did ban such bots on my Protector

this line will block the previous defined bad referer hosts/dns

allow from all

you see, i am damned picky!!!
had too many ppl from the blocked countries/domains/hosts trying to mess with me!
