ok, so you know that guy who did 15 posts (one on each thread).... cheers for deleting most of them by the way... How come you've let him still have 3 posts in threads like 'song reviews' and 'music' ???? if ive ever seen any thing that should have just been thrown into 'off site' its that s***!!!

dont wanna rant but the guys totally f***** me off, i was on last night when he came on and had to 'watch' the idiot do it.... and click on every single one of them so it didnt come up as a new post... i just dont think its been mod'ed properly thats all... i understand why youve deleted my ' you're a class A d***wad' post from underneath his ' song review' thread, but just feel hard done by that the guy still gets to have any posts left here at all... let alone 3 in the wrong topics....

things like that do my head in...but, i try my best not to let it show.... Laughing

i just noticed the guy, too. not as many threads at the moment as it seems there were earlier. yeah, i think the 'songs review' forum, if i'm going to say this about any of them, should probably be really clean and kept free from stuff that flagrantly don't follow the rules. sure, i'm actually fine with people coming from other sites and asking for reviews here. let me rephrase that, i don't mid it when a guy from another small, quality site comes by and asks for a review and then in turn gives them out, or post links to your stuff here at UBW from his site. i have had it happen. it raised awareness about this site (not just my music since part of the deal i made with him was that he post a link to the site as well) and we made a new ally at the site. i try encourage anyone that's not a site member to get a profile here (when i've actually checked their thread) and do the thing you've all heard by now about how my band gets over 3 x's the plays here as on myspaz, and on.

that said, the rules are no asking for reviews for music on other sites. it's right up there at the top. so, we either need to get those who make forum decisions to change that to a more open policy, admit we fine with the rules being broken in some instances, or we go hard core. as i said, personally, if they are asking of a review of THEIR music and it's located on another site, i'm less likely to get angry. although i was very irritated during that phase a few months back when almost everyone stopping in for a review was just promoting plastic junk you had to link to soundclick to listen to.

this dude's post doesn't seem to fall into any of these categories. yeah, i'm sure me and some others have been really annoying with comments we've made to spammers, or just the comments themselves on other posts were irritating, but many of those have been due to a reaction to all the spam. once in a good while someone would surprise you and you'd find that you'd made an a$$ out of yourself because it wasn't spam and the person was like 15 or something. i've done it twice, i think. but hey, that's family. we're looking out for ours, and when we get way outta line, you come back to say so. that's balance and respect. we all get along for the bigger part and most of us don't like spam. let's get rid of more of deep's nonsense, at least in the song review forum. i didn't even realize myself until yesterday that the rule that is in the first few lines of the first thread was that strict. i had never had to worry about it, though. i also take responsibility for being 100% clear on that point and will probably new tell people who post for review for off-site material to post in the right forum and encourage them to get a profile on UBW (with some degree of diplomacy, though).

osrry for the long post, but the review forum is something that i kind of feel is like the sanctuary of the Forums. it's where, even though we might get silly or stray off-topic (GG, FF Laughing

), it's where we go to get honest and really help each other out. the focus there is strictly OUR music. when some outsider comes in and starts throwing litter in my flowerbed... Executioner

tate... trust you to do the the long - winded proper anysis of the situation.... at the end of the day... there wasnt any 2 way conversation.... the guy LITERALLY came on here and posted under every topic about his shit website.... and basically i feel like no-ones done f**k all about it.... ban me if you want guys... but that twat has made a mockery of everything this site is about... i hate spammers and usually tell them.... i wish you'd have been on last night gorg.... gunner was on to and pm'd the guy to stop after 6 posts... and he made 15... 15 f**king spammy posts and all the mods have done about it is let the guy in on 3 of the WRONG threads....

im sick of it... i know you hate spammers as much as me... ive said to many a spammer, in a nice way, you're in the wrong topic here mate...etc etc... and i now feel like ive been let down by the site i love THIS much... the only site i log onto most nights.... the site that i feel proud to be a part of... and that guy has got 3 posts in the WRONG f**king TOPICS....

well f**k it if no-one gets rid of them im gonna post like a b**ch all over that guy and wait till i get kicked off this site.....

Where to start...

spam sucks. spammers suck.

I know there is a special hell where spammers go when they die. It gives me some comfort.

That being said, no-one here on the mod team, or myself, intends to leave garbage like that in the forums. Obviously I take a lot of pride in this site (since I built it) , as do the moderators. Unfortunately we are all still human.

I deleted those posts earlier, including yours. It would have looked funny to delete his post, but leave your response (wouldn't have made sense to anyone who came across it). I'm pretty sure that I deleted all of his posts, BUT... perhaps he posted more after the ones I deleted.

I have banned him, but spammers are going to be able do some spam damage before I ban them. And nothing is going to stop them from signing up again and continuing their crap. Diligence in deleting the posts (which negates the benefit of the spam) is the best medicine.

In all honesty, I surfMANY MANY MANY internet sites that have forums and user content. I feel quite comfortable stating that our spam levels are much lower than any of the other user based sites that I visit. When spam does make it here, it's deleted within 24 hours.

Those posts came earlier today, and when I caught them, they were deleted. If I missed a few then DAMN!!!! But I see them tonight, and so now they are gone, still within 24 hours.

You have been great members here, posting in the forums, and providing great feedback around the site. I'm puzzled by how quickly you jump on the offense against us here, like there is some conspiracy to promote spam?? I must admit I don't understand it.

We will continue to police spam aggressively and ban the morons that post it. Neutral

no... its not like that at all mate... i just havent missed the other two posts that are on here.... under the same post title etc.... i just really hate that guy....lol... nothing against the site.... honestly mate.... if i had complaints i would voice them... or leave....lol.... but i love this site.... you missed a couple, thats all, and i hate that guy..... i hate him so bad.....

Another frustration is the moron that keeps making song comments so he can appear on the home page...Then I go delete it, but 2 hours later he's back again!!! I don't want to turn off the ability to allow guests to post in the song comments right!!! WHY MUST THEY RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE!!!
