gig swapping is a very powerful way to expand your fan base without that much effort. Its probably the best solution for DIY bands out there, seeing as
touring and networking has become so important for indie bands.
Bassically its jsut organizing a concert with another band, but the main outline is that you want to reach new fans. So bassically, lets say you wanna start getting a fan base in the town next to yours. well you hook up with a band from over there and you get together to plan a concert. You go headline for then in their town exposing yourselves to their fan base, then you return the favor in your town. Usually bands split the bill, or some bills because its a mutual effort. you get to know their fans and they get to know yours. so you expand fan base, you network and create realtionships with other band, other club owner and their fans, plus if you do this right, you should try to get local media coverage in the other town. gigwapping is actaully fan swapping, you try to win over fans. Everyone wins in the collaboration. |

Finding talented musicians who are committed and responsible. Finding rehearsal space, getting equipment, finding gigs.. those are easy workarounds but you gotta have dedicated teammates! No shows in a band means no shows in a performance. |
