1st it was "Don't Cha," could "He Beats Me" be next?
For those confused Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkley received songwriting fame after the release of "Don't Cha" by the Pussy Cat Dolls.
Now there is a new artist on the rise named Prema LaNay.
Another "marvelous writer" as spoken by Jimmy Iovine.

It is rumored that she signed to Interscope directly with the guidance of her lawyer Theo Sedlmayer (also 50 cents lawyer). Cee-Lo's label tried to get her to sign to paperwork taking all her rights away (including him being able to name himself the writer of her songs). The label even went on the hunt for her producers trying to buy the beats of her recorded tracks before her major deal finalized.
Her song "He Beats Me" is the next thing in music and it looks like the Gnarls Barkley star is up to his old tricks. Supposedly, his label has already recorded another female completely imitating Prema LaNay on He Beats Me.

Tori Alamaze----Her first single, "Don't Cha" (2004), was written and produced by Cee-Lo Green...Alamaze complained that the label never shot a music video for her single, nor did she receive any real marketing. According to rumors in the industry, Alamaze’s version of "Don’t Cha" was intended as the 'next big thing' for the label, but Universal Records decided the single wasn’t working. Proving how treacherous the music industry can be, the label dropped Alamaze, and the track was re-recorded by The Pussycat Dolls including a rap from Busta Rhymes. The new version climbed to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Club mix version peaked at #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
***So could it be that instead of being a great writer, there could be a great thief taking underground artists' art and selling it to major acts to avoid having the responsibility of actually marketing the new artists which an independent label should?!?!?!? |
