..as always, constructive criticism is welcomed.
also...I know its a bit repetitive....so we will leave that aside....lol
and i tried a new compressor and limiter...might be too much, but thats why im throwing this out to you fine people to see how you hear it.......
Thanks in Advance

hey gunner, just gave it a listen, the lead guitars sounding nice and 'bright', not sure what the compressors bringing into the mix because ive never actually used that effect myself, dont think anything sounds over cooked FX wise though, im having trouble with my crappy speakers hacking the bass which is a shame (its making trumping noises...lol)

is there some sort of phaser thrown in there too?? im sure i can hear some... anyway its a nice tune mate, slightly repetative as you say but not too bad... my only problem with it is some of the phrasing its far too happy for a functioning depressive like myself... Laughing Laughing (joke)

what did you use to create the drums, in fact, what did you use software wise for it all... ive gotta start taking in this stuff now, as i ordered myself a killer pc last night..

keep rocking mate...

well....i hate to give away my tricks...but.....lol
as far as the guitar...i use a Line6 Guitarport...which plugs directly into a usb port and the 1/4 inch guitar cable plugs into the unit.....then the software takes over and you can emulate different amps and amp cabinets and effects........
For recording purposes...I use Acid Pro 6...if ya cant afford it...there are many free multi-track programs out there that can acomplish the same thing....then I use different plug-ins to mix each track...then I use Steinbergs Wavelab 5 to master the entire track..........
It took about a year playing around with all this stuff to at least know a little bit......
I will hunt down some free and legal stuff after dinner and post it here for ya...so at least you can get started....also I'll throw in a great article about mixing and mastering etc.......
and as always if ya need any help with all this....I will surely help as much as i can....but my expertise is limited.....
and thanks for the kind words....i know its somewhat a happy tune...but i used to play much darker music....but....my damn friends were complaining...lmaooo.....they didnt think an old guy (43) like me should be writing material so deep dark and depressing.... Sad ...lol

ha ha ha... ok mate... ive got sonar 7 and reason 4 coming with my absolutly killer spec'd pc!!! and yea i think it'll probably take me a good year to get to grips with it too, been liasing with gorgatron a lot about it (thanks gorg) Razz so hes filled me in on some of the basics that i still havent got my head around but i think it will be a lot clearer once ive got it all sitting in front of me (i hope!!)...

its gonna be nice finally using the line 6 xt live floor jobbo i got to more like its full potential!!!... im starting to think i now have way more equipment than talent...lol....ill be intersted in the mixing / mastering article dude, deffinately gonna be reading up on a lot of that stuff now.... cheers for signing up on the website man... its gonna take a while to take off, but the building blocks are there... we were on about it tonight at practise and are planning on getting 2/3 songs sorted and recorded properly... its such a nice website it deserves some good songs!! Laughing Laughing

anyways ive strayed WAY off topic here...the happy comment was just a joke mate, i think the more you get to shred the scales etc, the more 'jolly' it tends to feel, i think this is down to finger positioning throughout scales...i never liked natural major particularily but found it quite comfortable to play through tonight while wafting some semi fast natural minor out (and by natural minor i mean all the modes up the fret board aswell, i learned a really wierd way, basically i had a guitar mag that had a natural minor scale in it, i drew a fret board then marked all the notes in that scale across the fret board) eg in Am i marked all the A's B's C's D's etc that were on the whole fretboard, then a couple of years later found out iwas playing Mixolydian, or Ionian or whatever modes...lol.. supose it wasnt a bad way to go.... got stumped on that one with the blues scale though....lmao...anyways my point was i think you really have to almost go out of your way to make faster playing actually 'phrase' out to be a sad / depressing sound, i could be absolutely wrong with this, but i dont seem to hear many that pull that off... (i dont mean for this to sound like im panning out a challenge for you gunner....lmao)

right im 'gunner' shut up (you see what i did there..lol) Laughing

catch you later dude.... Cool

Oh Ok......the challenge is on dude....lol...just kidding...
well hell if you got all that stuff coming with the pc...then i will only post the article about mixing etc.....
i will add the site with the free plug ins that could be useful....as far as Mixolydian and other modes like that....I have no idea what all that is....honestly....i know my blues scale.....and pentatonic major and minor...but thats it....all i do is play and if it sounds good then so be it.....if someone said to me...ill give you 10 million dollars to show me an E minor 9th sus
i would still be broke...lol
Have fun with new toy.....that floor pod is awesome aint it??

lol.... i know what you mean mate... i think you tend to lose expression if you get bogged down in scales etc, though i would love to have the ability to ocassionally pull off some yan ackerman'esque' run downs...lol.... yea the floor pods pretty cool man... only just getting 'personal' with it, but its working well so far.... cheers for the pointer!!... cya later dude... Cool

No problem.......sometimes this mastering thing can be tricky and then you can overdo it also....
especially if you dont have high end speakers and you try to mix it through headphones which isnt a very good idea because the headphones simulate a stereo output and can effect the outcome of your mix.....as i do....i have a pair of somewhat ok headphones but my speakers on the pc are boombox speakers...so i have to mix it close then burn it to a cd then hopefully pick out the things that are too much or too little.....sometimes i think i should just take all the tracks and send them to someone to master it for me....lol...less headache this way....
if i run across anymore info on this subject i will post it here...or better yet i may start a new topic just for mixing and mastering.....

Om just now getting around to listening to the song....... i like it all but 2 minor things... one, IMHO, i thing the drums are WAY too "glassy" sounding.....Not sure if you used the compressor there or not.... if so that may be why..... the other thing, at about the 55-56 second mark, there is one "cha chunk" that goes off the charts in "flubb",,, it acctually scared me cause it came from NOWHERE>....everything is going all smooth, then suddenly KAFLPLOPLOPLOP on the spaeker, then all is fine again..... other that that, (and the afore mentioned repetitiveness, which your already aware of) i think its deffinately a solid rockin tune..... loving the leads!!!!
CHEERS!!!!
