plays not being counted

don't know if anyone else has noticed, but plays are not being counted on some profiles. i know that we have more plays than yesterday, but when i check the detailed stats for the last 2-3 days, it shows '0'. i know that on at least 3 of those had plays 3 days ago because they were still kinds high in the acoustic charts. that's not the part i'm worried about. that counter for the totals works fine. that's how i know we have more plays than we did yesterday. i also know a guy downloaded several yesterday because we talked about it here in the forum and myspace. also, everyone that was in like the top 10-20 from yesterday are gone and Nodwell's 'Desperate Thief' gets a ton of plays everyday. he's usually in the top 25 on the 'all music' charts as well. so either there's a glitch that's torched our counters, or a grip of people just up and decided that they were ready for a bunch of change all at once. just a quick update on a few other things i noticed that weren't quite right...

when i checked last night, our total number of plays was over 10,000, was about 3000 too many. today when i checked, a few of our songs were showing counts again, but our total read at almost 8500, which is about 1500 too many.

'Dull the Senses' was showing that it hadn't been played or downloaded in 4 days, but i know a guy played a downloaded a hi-fi version late monday or tuesday, and had told me about it in the forum and on myspace. the song was also in the top ten on tuesday (and definitely on monday) and i'm showing no plays on any of those days either.

let me know if you have any questions that i can answer that might help you sort out this problem. i check the forums and my profile a few times a day on average and i check out the charts for acoustic and all music several times a day. yeah, i have no life. Laughing

I haven't changed anything that would have affected the plays, so I'll need some time to look into this.

maybe people really just stopped listening to everything that was in the top 30 or so. i noticed that some of those artists have crept back in, so something must be working correctly again. although if we had gained as many plays over that short of a period as what was showing in the combined statistics, we'd be at #1 all over this site. Laughing

I have noticed some real bugs in the system in the past 2 days. I went from being on top of Ambient charts as well alternative for months and now from 2 days ago. I'm not charting at all. How could all these kind folks just stop listening over night all at the same time. Then my count goes 4000 in an hour then looses 2000 then returns to normal then all over again. Go no?

sorry your having the same problems, lodato. on the other hand, i'm glad to hear that someone else has noticed it as well. i was beginning to think that people really had stopped listening to us. Laughing

the charts keep changing like mad. whoever was #1 at noon is no longer #1 a few hours later. at least some of our songs are showing counts.

in all seriousness i haven't noticed any of this stuff, but i havent been looking aswell, hope it gets sorted out for you guys, bet minusme's gonna have a right headache on this one!!...lol..

ps. i dont really think the charts on this site are 'made up' or 'not worth jack'

I am looking into this, but it's such an intricate system that it's taking some time. I hope to have it resolved by this weekend.

thanks for looking into it. i understand that something like this will take some time. the total plays on my account keeps fluctuating. some others i know have also noticed that the acoustic charts keep changing almost daily. it seems that it's been somewhat stable over the last few days, but with some flux. it's really strange, though. good luck, hope it's not a major headache, and thanks so much for your attention to the problem.

Hmmm???

And when I log in and look, it says I have no songs posted but I know that's not right.

Can anybody tell me what exactly is going on with the site and bugs?

You posted that request 3 hours ago. While I wish it were the case, we can't get to every request in 3 hours. We do our best to resolve major issues (like your page not working) as quickly as possible. In this case it took a few hours.

5 people looking at your post doesn't mean that 5 ubw employees looked at your post and ignored it. This is an open forum, anyone can happen in and read your post. What you need is the '1' right person to look at your post Mr. Green

yeah!

and if your issue isn't yet resolved peanuthead (i took it from minusme's post it was) it can probably be solved (and definitely avoided forever) by deleting (and never adding) quotations marks around the titles of your photos. we had the same problem before as well. it took over 24 hrs before it got resolved. sh*t happens. don't sweat it man. Very Happy

yep. still screwed up a bit. I'm sure the fix is on it's way. But I know what you mean about the count being occaisonally pleasing...
