yeah man, sounds cool. have at it! we'll put it up on our page and you do the same for yours. if anyone ever wants to give either one of us cash for it, we'll split it. sound good to you? i'm actually not too worried about selling it, though. just putting it out there.
thanks for tossing out that spam post that was in the acoustic forum. we never get spam here. i was floored!!!
at least now we don't have to worry. let me know if you need anything from me to create the trance version. use whichever song(s) work best for you. can't wait to hear how it turns out. |

well at this point i should say that a bit of few artist only are signable here.the amount of knowledge and application of work to compose, sequence, produce and masterise tending to something really big, internet means less money for the commercial market and more music for the people (as 95% of the music's free here and that some of them are really excellent)
i don't really think there is much luck than this in music selling, i know i'm not yet signal for something real. |

it was more of a joke than anything man. we don't sell any of our music and i think it will stay that way for a long time to come. we sell the EPs we have packaged, but only for a few dollars. the statement was meant in the same way as when you made a similar comment to Gunner in his thread and he said that all he wanted was a 57 Stratocaster, i think.
i was just saying that we should both promote it if we both feel it stands well on its own. i love it when electronic artists remix and/or recreate music from bands. like when Prefuse 73 did the band Trans Am, or when Autechre did Tortoise. i know there are tons more examples than this, but you get the picture. but the idea hearkens back to a time when artists were less competitive and also poor. they appeared rich because they were in the company of, and beholden to, royalty and the elite of europe. they still basically had nothing and music was basically free unless someone paid you to write or perform for them. that wasn't very often. it's hard to do so, but think of all of the traditional songs that come from that time. sure, mostly we remember the tune because that's what has survived through the ages. it was considered and honor to arrange, interpret, and sometimes add to or take away from the original music of a contemporary composer. i don't mean some cover band playing bad bon jovi covers under a beer tent at an outdoor festival, but two competent musician/composers sharing music they respect and using it to create something different than the original piece, even if the changes are subtle. it's that sort of attitude of mutual respect, but also self-confidence, that creates the environment for songs that continue for the ages. of course it's obviously not all that simple, but you get my point.
looks like i've earned 20 points yet again. |

yes sure i don't thought you were serious about making money with amateur stuff but i'm remebering my the cruel truth about this...so much work to do to sell the smallest cd dozen.like i said its less money for all artist and at the same time more music for the people...what will happens when even the great artist are not rentable ? site saying they will sell your music are a big myth history |

I like the guitar but without a voice it doesn't speak to me beyond nicely.
Cheers though it's chill.

Hi. New to this site and wonder if you could have a listen to my bands music and let me know if you think it fits into the acoustic genre.
We are "The Toads" and live in the Midland area of England. I would really appreciate any feedback you could give about our recordings so far.
Will try to upload some asap but meanwhile see www.thetoads.co.uk and click on the freemusic link.
"Blue is a woman" is a good track to start with.
Cheers Jon |

That would be great.
Have just listened to "Falling" and am a little awestruck at the guitar playing of you guys. Please don't expect to hear that sort of technique in our stuff!
Have added "Falling" to my Itunes. Will really compliment my Nick Drake, Kings of convenience playlist.
Good work. Long way for us to come to see you live though!

thanks for the compliment. just having a listen to 'blue is a woman' now. really nice track, great recording. really balanced. so kudos on that. the song also develops nicely. i like that it starts off nice and slow and continues thus until about 3/4 into the song and then there's a bit of a tempo change and everything picks up quite a bit. the ending is a bit abrupt, but that's just my opinion. whoever is doing the singing has a nice voice and the subtle harmonies are add a nice touch of ambiance. i also like the fact that the vocals aren't overpowering, as many lyric based artists bring the vocals way too much to the forefront. this all blends together nicely. so yeah, i really like the tune. i'm not really a lyrics person, so you won't ever find me commenting on those either way.
i saw that you have this song on your UBW profile. i'll add it to my station within a few days. let us know if you put more tracks up on your profile. i'll probably copy and paste this review in the 'song reviews' forum as well, so others will see it. not as many people read this one. great work and best of luck to you guys! |

Hello again.
Just to let people know that I have uploaded "Blue is a Woman" to The Toads UBW profile now for anyone who fancies a listen.
Am just mixing a couple of other tracks (we have many) and will upload them soon.
Many thanks for the kind review. I think we're going to like it here.
In case anyone is interested in the technical stuff. The track was recorded in my garden shed and mixed using a Zoom H4 mic and a macbook running garageband and logic express (mainly for the mp3 convertor!)
How did we get to number 1 in the Folk chart???
Cheers

hi toads,
i've added your two tracks you've now got up on your profile. let me know if you add any new tracks and i'll throw them on as well. you're style fits the mood of my station nicely. plus, i like having a station on here that plays the best of UBW acoustic music. it's my goal, anyhow. i've said it before, but i get the feeling that the acoustic genre is a bit like the bastard child nobody really cares much about. sure, they pay attention once in a while, but we've practically have to beg. ok, i'm exaggerating a bit, but you get the picture.
i hope you enjoy UBW. it's not always the most active forum, but there are a lot of good people that creep in and out. i can also attest that you'll probably get more plays on this site than on most others. we have almost 3x's as many plays here than on myspace. we're getting close to 10K plays/downloads here at UBW.
i'll review your new track soon. take care and good luck! |
