Yes, Alan Parsons Project, ELO, Rush.... i'm sure i can find more once i get my music collection back in order. i'm currently transferring it to my new PC. i'll check back with more later.

some people might not think Rush is progressive, but they definitely are in my book.

thought of anohter good one, but from the late 60's. Frank Zappa's 'Hot Rats' is a brilliant album. it's a lot different than most of his other albums. this one is almost completely instrumental. whether you're into Zappa or not, it's a great album.

it's going to take me weeks to get through/sort my album collection, so i'll just try to throw stuff at you now and then.

it's a little less on the rock side and much more on the jazz side, but you should check out some Miles Davis albums like In a Silent Way, Bitches' Brew, and Live Evil. all of them are great in my opinion and the music he made during this period is considered by some to be the birth of fusion. there are more than just these three albums during that period, but these were the first that came to mind. John McLaughlin plays on these three albums as well does Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. those are just the ones i recall. anyhow, check any of it out.

Hello all. Very happy to have found this thread. To answer your question, yes: please follow the links provided to Strawbs', Dave Lambert's & Fire's MySpaces. There are new music samples playlists on all three links. These sites are well maintained to stay current with what's going on with the bands, so be sure to keep checking back. I hope you'll be as pleased as I've been with the information provided:

www.myspace.com/strawbsmusic
(Features the new CD Release 8 Oct 08: The Broken Hearted Bride-Strawbs, released on Witchwood Records Label)

www.myspace.com/davelambert07
(Dynamic sampling of past and current Strawbs/Fire music)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=F01ZXy8_aSg
(Strawbs-Cold Steel)
You'll notice a track (youtube) from Lay Down With The Strawbs (Live - DVD) I find myself listening to this one quite frequently ..."Cold Steel", a great tune--and sufficient evidence that Strawbs is still "riding the wave" Very Happy )

www.myspace.com/2007fire
(The Magic Shoemaker )

Fire, an experimental/psychedelic rck band, was signed to a major record label (during the psychedelic era). "Magic Shoemaker Live" was recorded during their 2007 reunion concerts. This resulting new album was released 6 Oct 08, and is on the Angel Air Records Label. Please visit Fire's myspace link for further details.

Last but not least, please don't miss (featured on the same site) the recent interview with Dave Lambert conducted by Gary Jackson . Very informative and nicely done, IMO:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxwM25CnhY4&NR=1
(Autumn/The Winter Long-Strawbs)
(Not included to downplay the current good stuff, but here is a genuine classic just to let you know it's on youtube-my personal all time favorite Strawbs music)

The bottom line: Please get over there to say hello and let those guys/gals know your thoughts on what you hear-it's a sure bet that they'll appreciate your honest feedback Smile

Hope all this helps. Have a great day!

Best
