just search for Daffodil Sword for me guys...lol...not that you'd actually want to..... or, if you concentrate REALLY hard and type "inebriated idiot wanna be spice girl" you get transported 'Star trek' style straight to my bedroom.... and the boring excitement that exists within... |

if you google our band name, our UBW profile comes up 5th. two of the first 5 are links to us. i ckeck our referrer log and find some interesting google searches. evidently, if you enter 'sylvan lane' in many far east asian countries, you find a bunch of hits coming out of thailand and taiwan (i think). it's some major real estate firm with a ton of condos that are way out of my price range. evidently a few people over there have googled that name and waded through the multitude of pages to find us, or at least that's where they gave up.
i think i stopped after 12 or 13 pages. we get a decent amount of traffic through google searches. i've never actually tried entering in other words. if you type the name of my former roommate and engineer of much of our studio stuff, we come up at 8. it's the news section of our UBW profile. a link from our band URL is #7. we get some traffic from people looking up work he's done when people are checking out his background to decide to hire him or not.
sorry that i seem to have written another book. i've got the typing equivalent to verbal diarrhea. |

Strangely enough when i google my band, i find this site comes up before our myspace.
Not sure why. Does it go on hits or something? If so i'd expect myspace up first..
If anyone can answer this, please let me know |

i've always been under the impression that it's based on hits, unless otherwise you can pay a small fortune for it.
i know that's how a google bomb works. someone uses a program or something to make it seem like a site has gotten a ton of hits. it's like when you type in 'failure' and instead of 'search' they hit 'feeling lucky,' which brings up the top site for the number of hits for that word. someone has tricked google into associating that site for that word. when you hit 'search' that same site shows up at number one because google thinks that the most hits for that word are for that site. the reason i'm not saying what the site is is because, if you've never done this before, got to google .com (doesn't work on .co.uk, i think), type in 'failure' and click on 'feeling lucky.' it's been around for years this gag, but i still run across people that haven't done it yet.
if someone know this all to be false, please correct me. |
