SEA, I listened to several of your tunes. Professional sound. overall the music is alot heavier than I generally listen to (particularly the vocals), but I apprecaite how you mix some cool melodic content in with the heavier chunky riffs.

Cool stuff sir.
I quite enjoy electronic-infused metal, and this is pretty awesome stuff.
I'm a huge metal fan in general as well, mostly a fan of melodic death metal and some metalcore/hardcore stuff.
My only gripe is that the guitar parts aren't very technical in general. The overall sound you've got is more nu-metal than I'm used to, but it's still pretty cool.
Some bands you may want to check out are Sky Eats Airplane (http://www.myspace.com/skyeatsairplane), Protest the Hero (http://www.myspace.com/protestthehero), and especially The Black Dahlia Murder (http://www.myspace.com/blackdahliamurder).
Overall, pretty cool stuff, even though it's not my general style of music. I'd love to hear how it would sound with some sweet technical licks in there with harmony parts to them. Though, I sorta doubt you'd change your entire sound based on one person's preference, aha.
Thanks for the music, and if and when I spot your album, I'll be picking it up. =p |

Hey llc, first off big thanks for the comments and feedback. Appreciate you checking out the tunes and taking the time to listen to my music.
Your right as far as the nu-metal influence goes, I cant deny the roots of where S.E.A and its styling came from. Thing is, I actually play guitar far better than anything I record, mainly due to me singing/playing live. Its difficult to include the technical side of riffing when I have the vocal duties on top of it. I know its a little controversial to say, but Nu-Metal -musically- gave people the instant hits to break-away riffs and beat-downs that people wanted. A lot of modern bands this year have torn towards the classical metal styles with their metalcore, screamo and thrash roots, I still appreciate what Nu-metal has as far as future-fusion industrial elements goes.
There are too many Triviums, As I Lay Dying's and Bullet for my valentines out there for me to start widdling on the guitar. If people want Lamb Of God or Unearth, they should listen too them, know what I mean? I dont think id ever play any Dragonforce style guitars over S.E.A's sci-fi atmospherics.
The Predator LP was recorded Autumn of 2006, the newer material (Audio-Escape) is actually technically superior, but I really wanted to keep it simple with the industrial elements driving repetative rythmns and sequencers.
The even newer material, called Utlimatum, which I am writing and recording all through June is tinged more towards the metal side of the project rather than the industrial. Its more organic sounding with less samples and more harmonizing with dual guitars. So your opinion does count, but im already on that road. As I wrote earlier, it's not likely to be insanely fiddly or crazy, but it will be more cut towards the mid-nineties metal era of Machine Head (Burn My Eyes) and Pantera (Far Beyond Driven)
Hopefully as my multi-tasking gets easier, the more I sing/play, the entire sound and technical ability will improve also.
Thanks again,
~AK |

Yeah, I definitely understand what you're talking about.
Though I suppose, if you do ever want to make your music a bit more technical, you could always get a couple guitarists to play with you live. :/
I'd love to have a metal band as well, and write all the music for it. However, I want to do vocals too, so what I'd have to do is get other people to play guitar for me. Honestly, I wouldn't mind it as long as I still get to write the music, but it's really up to you as to whether you'd want to do this or not.
Another thing is, if you are planning on playing live shows, you should really consider getting a full band together to play your music. It's fine if you record everything on your own and all, but one of the main reasons people go to live shows is for the energy and the actual live production value.
And yeah, I definitely hear what you're saying about bands like Trivium, As I Lay Dying, Bullet for my Valentine, etc. (I actually don't like any of those bands, hah). And indeed, if people want a Lamb of God or what have you, they should listen to them.
Your music is pretty cool as it is, and I'll be sticking around to see how you develop it as time goes on. =P |

S.E.A is Aaron Kilborn
S.E.A (Live) is
Aaron Kilborn - Guitars/Vocals
Steve Dearnley - Bass/Backing Vox
Pete Botteril - Live Drums/Samples
I want three things before I die.
1 - Gene Hoglan to take over from Pete on Drums
2 - My little brother to switch to 7-string and to take over guitaring duties.
3 - ... to be Paris Hilton's Cell-mate.
Here is hoping!
