Ok...this is what i have found for you!!
SCOOBY DOO'S BIO
Full Name: Scoobert Doo
Age: never revealed
Likes: Scooby Snacks, and all food in general
Dislikes: witches, goblins, ghouls, demons, ghosts and monsters.
He's a large Great Dane. Scooby must be coaxed into scary situations with the promise of a Scooby Snack. Once in trouble, Scooby can usually get out of the situation by using his acting abilities. He often tries to fake his way out of scary assignments, but usually ends up dressed in some funny costume to help the gang solve the mystery. He gets his energy for all of these antics and chase scenes by eating lots of food with Shaggy.
SHAGGY'S BIO
Full Name: Norville Rogers
Age: never revealed
Likes: Food
Dislikes: Ghosts, monsters
Shaggy gets his nickname from his scruffy appearance. A lanky clown, Shaggy was into grunge even before Seattle. He could be called the human version of Scooby since he quivers at the sound of his own squeaking shows. ALWAYS hungry, he would rather dive into a table of food than a new case. He often finds himself competing with Scooby for available food. Although he never wants to be a part of a mystery, he always does his part in accompanying his friends on every investigation. He sometimes joins Scooby in dressing up in funky costumes and might even use his ventriloquism skills to make villains think Scooby is talking.

DAPHNE'S BIO
Full Name: Daphne Blake
Age: never revealed
Likes: Freddie (as the show would lead on)
Dislikes: The Villain
Daphne is the most well groomed one out of the gang, even though she is always wearing the same thing, you know that she is little miss perfect. Her father is very wealthy. He is the one responsible for the Mystery Machine, and all the other things that look expensive. Another note about daphne is that she can always I mean ALWAYS be seen with her hands on her hips
VELMA'S BIO
Full Name: Velma Dinkley
Age: never revealed
Likes: Finding a big clue and saying "This might be a clue"
Dislikes: When somebody else take her line "This might be a clue"
Velma is the plainest of the Mystery Inc. gang. As well she is probably the smartest. She is always being alternatedwith Shaggy and Scoob, and Fred and Daphne. In about every episode she manages to lose her glasses and then find them just as the villan starts to chase them. As well she ussually pieces together the clues, so Freddie can come up with a plan.
This is all that i have a found.....and it is truly a mystery why they are on the road so much....mmmm.....wonder where they got the gas money??? |

I used to watch Scooby Doo. I don't know where they were from.... I guessing they were in their 20s.
Not to sound mean but how come there were never any minorities on the show? If there were then I don't remember them. |

There wasnt any minorities on that show......
but, remember it was the early 70's
TV shows were not as diverse as they are now
even though there were "The Jeffersons", "Good Times","Fat Albert"
and my personal favorite was "What's Happening"
but, in case anyone wants to know...im a white guy, but loved that show....all those shows are on TVLand which is a cable channel, anyway, didnt mean to babble on,
but that was a very good question!! |

first off... gunner, that's a hell of a lot of info about Scoob and the Gang, but i think others have already pointed that out.
Just wanted to point out that although minorities weren't a part of the show in general, there was at least one episode with the Harlem Globe Trotters working the the team. it's also good to know that at least all the criminals on the program were also white.
now, what's crazy is that you never saw any ethnic diversity in The Flinstones. There you had the whole damn city of Bedrock and it was lily white. it was the first prime-time series to show husband and wife sleeping in the same bed (the first non-animated series to do this was The Brady Bunch, if i'm not mistaken), but they couldn't go the extra step and draw some people from other races. hell, they had that alien - Kaazoo was his name. i guess this is kind off the Scooby Doo topic, though |

i think the whole Scooby Doo concept is proof of that. Hannah/Barbara must have had a strict company policy to only hire those that could see clearly out of their third eye. Scooby was also pretty fond of those Scooby snacks. i wonder what Shaggy was backing those with?
do any of you remember the Flintstone's Winston cigarette spot? another one that's off topic, but a good piece of cartoon trivia. if you see it, you'll probably remember it. i'm sure you can find it on youtube. |

I forgot about that one too. Thanks for the info. A lot of the older cartons didn't have much, if any, ethic diversity. Charlie Brown, The Jetsons, Popeye, Alvin & the Chipmunks, Garfield and Friends and proably many othes didn't have it. |

yeah, it took a while for cartoons to come around to desegregation. with Charlie Brown, they had Franklin, who was black. i think that might be some of the influence behind the character Token in the series South Park, although that is just speculation. there are probably a thousand other examples that could have influenced this character that we could all think of if we put our heads together. i'd totally forgotten about The Jetsons. they didn't depict a very diverse future. of course they couldn't have known that by the 90's, when the story is supposed to take place - i think, hip-hop and many aspects of black culture would be all the rage and kids wouldn't be listening the the sounds of black r&b influenced 50's rock tunes like Eep-op-ork-ah-ah. |
