This has no title, and no chorus, but I couldn't think of either, and I'm thinking of an instrumental chorus.
I was sitting on the edge of a mountain
Staring up into the blue
There was a dark cloud on the horizon
With sunlight cutting through
And I swear that in the summer haze
I could see a picture of you
Flashing a smile for an instant
Then fading out of view
And I couldn’t help but wonder
As the band picked up to play
If you hadn’t gotten lost back there
But found another way
And maybe just never talked
Cause there was nothing left to say
I guess I’m really not sure why
I wanted you to stay
I sat on my front porch step
And a cool breeze drifted by
The birds raised their heads
And lifted to the sky
To leave me alone thinking
Did we really expect to fly?
Or did we just wish we did
And never wondered why?
