Dj Empty - The Game (HiFi)
I just went to this artist's page and choose the tune that perked my ear most in the beginning. The link provided wasnt working and i wasnt sure of the title so here it is
Im a sucker for the bass clap intor..thats what got me. The bass kick is solid, maybe needs a touch more low eq, it is seriously lacking in the 20hz range. Hehe, the bassline at :26 lets me know this tune is gonna be jolly. The next sound that comes in is okay, could maybe be backed out by an added drum line..like a high hat maybe? The first breakdown is a little early i think, but the synth you bring is great...deffinatly loving that part.
I also think the build up could be helped by some more drums..such as high hats. The intial section of the build up is kinda hollow. Once the snare drums start going crazy i think it is a bit to loud. Once the beat kicks is its all good, deffinatly need some high hats though. I would also recommend beefing up the clap, by either adding eq or just turning it up. Needs something more powerful on the 2 and 4 count to give the song a little more bounce. A snare drum would cure this problem. Still, the melodey is great, very relaxing.
Gets kind of out of control at 5:20 - 5:30...sounds like its clipping a bit. Sounds like the snare drums are too loud. I used to get excited at the blow ups of songs and turn the volumes up, but i have very stubbornly learned that those level changes are not neccesary. Your has some eq spikes that are kind of rough on the ears..i would deffinatly recommend trying to smooth things out (levels that is). The pad you add here at the end is a nice touch, compliments the melody very well...i would have liked to have heard it earlier. Deffinatly my favortie part, nice ending
So all and all i think a nice bass boost, a snare drum, and high hat would really help this track out. Good trancer overall, but needs some level fixing to make it great...check the pic, try to smooth out some of those really high peaks..add some low end to the bass drum and some high hats to make it richer. It should be noted that compressing audio losses a lot of sound quality. The reason you might not have any highs or lows could be be because of your mp3 encoder also. Great job on the overall feel though, very trancy indeed. Hope it will help
