This is a song I wrote a while ago, then lost the lyrics to, and had to write it out again by memory. Anyway, here's what came out:

"David and Goliath"

There shall come a time when the forests so black
Will tremble and quake with rage
And the ivy-covered fortresses
Shall crumble down with age
Waves that have rolled ‘cross churning seas
Shall come to fight the land
While the sky shall darken to tell all
The time is now at hand
And the caged bird shall sing sweeter than
She ever has before
While rusted guns and shattered swords
Shall fall onto the floor
And the poor and downtrodden shall jump up
Ne’er again to beg from the streets
They’ll stand when David and Goliath once again shall meet

And the general who has led his troops
To fight and shoot and die
Shall the bulls-eye target
When the bloodied bullets fly
For though he tries to hide behind
His armies and his men
When judgment has been brought he can
Answer only to them
And the prison master who once sat
Up in the highest tower
Shall hear the bells of freedom toll
To announce the hour
For though he has been deaf to all
The cries of men he’s beat
He’ll hear when David and Goliath once again shall meet

And the ship that’s sailed since time began
Shall come into the port
The sailors and the stowaways
Will come safely to shore
The widows shall come out to see
Their husbands once again
As the spirits from the ocean floor
Shall come blowing in the wind
And the king surrounded on all sides
Shall tremble now with fear
His long fur robes and costly jewels
Will do him no good here
For even the crippled and the lame
Shall stand on their two feet
To fight when David and Goliath once again shall meet

The broken-hearted lovers who
Have long been left for dead
Shall reach out their longing hands
And together walk ahead
Though many years they’ve stayed inside
Doors locked and shades drawn
They shall all come out to witness
The new sun’s rising dawn
And the senators and congressmen
In offices down the hall
Shall at last hear the battle start
The rattle down their walls
For though they’ve hid behind their desks
It’s an unprotected seat
They’ll shake when David and Goliath once again shall meet
