Hi Amazon,
Have ya thought about a local radio station? Not mainstream though
We've got several alternative stations here and once I get a CD properly packaged, I'm going in to see one in particular who for 2hrs a day, play specific styles of music. How about competitions. Entering the line-up for charity concerts & pick other bands brains.
There's a local band here who go around playing at High Schools & seem to be in demand, although that could be quite nausiating I guess.
Alek might be one to ask, check out his website.
Bye 4 now and good luck

This may be too obvious but......
When I was playing heavily in college, I would spend ALL my time AFTER our shows hanging out with the folks that had just heard us. All the other bands we played with would go somewhere private after the show.
I can't tell you how many friends I made and how much great feedback I got at every single show just getting out and meeting people! AND we developed the biggest following our of all the bands in my small college town. (ahh the glory days!!!)
I also was a huge supporter of the local music scene and would go out and see every local band I could even if we weren't playing. I can tell you that many of the bands (and fans of those bands) appreciated the support and responded by coming to all of our shows. It was really pretty special.
Good Thread Amazon!!!

it's all about networking. like Ron said. take the time to get to know your fan base. it'll help you realize the proper manner in which to project yourself to them, but always remain true to your style. i've always thought about it this way... if you make music that you like then there's a good chance others will like it too, don't try to please everyone though. |
