Hey everyone,
This could sound like a possible complaint, but honestly, I just need to ask something.
Why is it, that people share poetry/lyrics in that forum, but they don't share as much feedback/criticisms? I've been kinda' busy with stuff lately, but whenever I go on to post, I always try to give feedback or criticisms to other posters, even if it's only one or two threads. The reason I bring this up, is because I feel that getting those responses helps a writer to improve their skill level. Personally, that is how it's been for me, in the past. It's one of the main reasons I've been so absorbed in the site.
I've been thinking about this every now and then, for at least a couple months, but I didn't say anything about it until now, because of what I said at the beginning: This could be seen as a complaint. It's really just a curiosity, and it doesn't matter too much to me if people think I'm a good writer. I'd just like to see what others think should be fixed, so I can make revisions, and as well, see what they liked about it, so I can train myself a little to use those things again in the future. Everyone on this site seems to be very cool, and I'm not sayin' anything against anyone. Like I said, I'm just wondering about it. If anyone has anything to say about this, leave a reply. -agree or disagree, etc. You're not likely to offend me, 'cause that's kind of a big task. lol. Thanks for the post RiCterMan... I agree that it's better to 'give' than 'receive', lol. I wish everyone that requested a review or feedback would first do the same. It would certainly increase the value of the site!!! My personal feeling is that some people don't feel 'qualified' to leave reviews if they are novices with not much experience. The truth is that feedback, regardless of the level of skill, is always valuable. We all need to know how 'others' read our lyrics and hear our songs.

i agree, maybe people just feel like they aren't good enough yet to critique others works and so they're afraid to give bad advice or offend someone or something. i donno. Just trying to help solve the mystery

I hear ya Ric, the same thing is happening in the song review forum.
A couple of weeks ago I spent almost 2 hours listening to songs and making comments. I think I reviewed 7 or 8 songs and commented on 5 or 6 and nobody ever traded reviews or commented back. I don't know what's going on. When I first joined I use to spent a lot of time everyday listening and reading lyrics and commenting on things I thought I could
honestly critique. I haven't had the time to do it lately, but it is a bummer more people don't get involved.
You've definitely caught my attention with some of the lyrics you've posted
RiC , I've really enjoyed many of them, nice job  and you have a good point here as well. Maybe things will improve with time. There are a lot more members now, we just have to hope they get more involved.
Sharing reviews is one of the best things about this site; anyway I've rambled on long enough . . . . . . . . Peace |

It always goes in cycles (kind of like my life..  ) . We will have a period where everyone is reviewing, then it will drop off for a period. I think it's mostly just growing pains.
BTW... Thanks for all of YOUR posts and keeping it lively around here!  |
