Hey, so here's a song I just wrote. It's not refined or anything, just rough, but I'll put it up anyway. Hope you like it.
"Someday"
A poor boy is born
The son of working class man and his wife
Scraping money together to sustain their life
His father takes him on his knee
And says Someday you could be just like me
Someday you could be just like me
The poor boy grows
Going to school he can read and can write
He wants to buy books but the money is tight
He watches politicians on the TV
They say Someday you could be just like me
Someday you could be just like me
A young man forms
He’s going to school, but his country’s at war
He’s giving his life, but his leaders want more
There are generals and heroes with awards and money
They say Someday, you could be just like me
Someday, you could be just like me
The man comes home
He’s desperate and bitter, looking for a job
He’s hungry and poor so he starts to rob
There’s a rich man who’s preaching to the kids on the street
He says Someday, you could be just like me
Someday, you could be just like me
He’s walking the streets, pushing drugs in the night
A police car pulls up, he starts to fight
In a split second, he pulls out his gun
The officers shoot as he starts to run
The young man falls
The ambulance comes as people look on
A criminal dead, the law again has won
The police tell the crowd the prognosis is grim
They say Watch out, or you could be just like him
Watch out, or you’ll be just like him

Dude, that is tight. It's a very fascinating piece of work, and I think the ending is very cool, too. Nice job, Tyler. Later! |
