Two Qs about the Blog section:
Is it possible to be able to determine the theme of the blog instead of it being determined by the theme of the guest or user thats logged in (ie ubw_light or ubw_blue, etc)
and also
I cant seem to get a background pic working on it. in the blog CP it gives the option of a background pic but it doesn't seem to work.

Currently, the user's default theme drives the look (as you mentioned). I would have to look into the ability for users to set the theme, but it is doable. Let me think about it for a bit.
The background pic is being overridden by the 'theme' bg pic. Fixing the first issue will most likely fix this as well.
I will be working to get these sorted in the next couple of weeks.
