Picture this...
Your so awesome at doing what you do, that a commercial label has just given you a million bucks to buy in -any- star you want to perform with. Pick your team, producer, studio and post up who you would want to work with and why!
(Living or dead, it doesnt matter.Your million bucks is enough to cover the cryogenics cost.)
Heres mine to give you an idea.
Style - Ambient Metal with Industrial edges
Band Name - "Spectrum 1"
Vocals - Bjork
Rthm Guitars - Dino Cazares (Brujeria/Fear Factory)
Ld Guitars - Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad)
Bass - Les Claypool (Primus)
Keyboards/Samples - Rhys Fulber (Frontline Assembly)
Drums - Aaron Kilbon (Me)
Producer of the album - Terry Date
Studio to record the said album - Abbey Road (Where else!)
Music Video would contain - Bjork dressed in a dufflecoat outside Area 51 gates with a sign reading "Welcome to earth" whereas the rest of the band would be coming out with guns as the soldiers. We'd arrest her (She is of course singing as we bundle her into the hummer) and it starts raining really heavily.
The hummer crashes, we're all dead but she survives. A spindly alien hand reaches in to take her own (bloodstained) one, pulling her free as she sings the final line of the song.
"I wish I was home..."
YAY! My fantasy lived, no need to do it now. Which is good, because I have better things to spend this million bucks on. Like the entire series of Button Moon!
Laters, join the madness.

Ok... I'll submit my musician dream team...
Style: Alt. Hard Rock/Metal
Band Name: Ape-shit Criteria (Since this type of project can never be, I may use this one...)
Vocals: A collaboration between Brandon Boyd (Incubus) w/Serj Tankian (S.O.A.D.)- Why: I've heard their voices combined. -Very good sound.
Rythm Guitar: None needed
Lead Guitars: Todd Wilkinson (Team Sleep)- Why: Simple, but amazing playing style.
Bass: Justin Chancellor (Tool)- Why: TOOL- Lateralus Disc- "Disposition"- Need I say more?
Keyboards/Samples: None needed
Drums: David Grohl (Ex-Nirvana, Q.O.T.S.A.)- Why: Not too fast, not too slow. -Would be just right.
(add on) Violins: Paz Lenchantin (Ex-APC, Ex-Zwan, etc.)- Why: I love the way she plays the instrument.
Producer of the Album: Ross Robinson- Why: Great albums were produced by this man.
Recording Studio: One that is located in someone's basement, to give it a raw sound, but not as to make it of horrible quality.- Why: Not sure... I just think it could sound cool.
Music Video idea: I can think up crazy shit pretty quickly...
The basic idea would be the band trapped underground, in a gray colored, box-like room, where they would perform. At various (and seperate) moments the images of the different musicians would disappear, for a split second.
At different parts of the video, you'd see what at first are seen as strange looking animals (but still animals), that later evolve into creatures that are rather frightening and do not resemble animals at all.
The video would end up concluding with a nuclear blast wiping out all of the creatures, but being that the musicians are underground, they would survive. After the music stops, The band would be staring at the ceiling, and wondering what the loud sound and accompanying shaking of the earth was. Video end.
Hey man. -Very cool idea for a thread. It's fun, creative, interesting... I can't wait to see what others respond with. Later! |

Hmmmm... let's see
Genre: Roots Rock
Guitars (Lead and rythm)- Tom Petty, Neil Young, Eric Clapton
Vocals- Bono
Bass- John Paul Jones
Drums- Ringo Starr
Keyboard- Rick Wakeman
Music Video: Probably nothing too elaborate. I'd make a slide show of baby pictures, except these would be baby pictures of people who were later executed. Then, at the end, I'd make a final slide saying "All of the preceding people were executed when they grew up in the US." Or something like that. Just popped into my mind.

Style - Garage Folk Rock
Band Name: Forethought
Duel Singers/3 Guitarists - Johnny Cash and
Jerry Garcia - Guitarist
Johnny Cash Vocalist/Guitarist
Jack White Singer/Guitarist (Jack White would also fill in by switching to other instruments as needed, just like he does live)
Drums - Jesse Sandoval
Bass - Les Claypool - His bass playing abilities are beyond amazing, he can play any spectrum of the bass.
Rick Rubin to Produce because he's good with a varied sound.
(Johnny would do background bass vocals for Jack White. Jerry Garcia will play lead guitar when we need some speed, while jack white will back him up, Johnny Cash will take over for the slower more emotional slow guitar)
Music Video Idea: Slow song, basically listen to the premise of the song ' I Hung My Head ' Which there is a version of it on American IV: The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash |
