This was written during late summer, 2004. My ex-girlfriend and I had just had an argument, and I basically just wrote about how I felt. Some people, who have actually heard this sung out loud, have said in the past that it may be my best sounding work of all. It's called, "Overload".
"Overload"
You're so cold.
You're words, offend,
and you don't see, the message sent.
I'm so thrown by what, you said(!).
-An overload;
now mind's absent,
(Chorus):
and now it's turned around.
-Say I, don't care.
Now I'm aware, you don't,
and I am fearing that
the end, is near
as this overload, appears.
Though you're cold,
you're words, won't stand.
I won't retain them, and resent.
That energy is negative;
This overload, will cease to last,
(Chorus, w/one word altered):
But now, it's turned around.
-Say I, don't care.
Now I'm aware, you don't,
and I am fearing that
the end is near
as this overload, appears.
(Short Interlude, envisioned)
(Words to Bridge):
Still, the textures of your words
are hardly strong enough to cause depletion.
You're so cold,
but words are only words...
I'll never think, "ruined."
Instead, I'll think, "Overcome and move along,"
because all that you say can't keep me down.
I'm gonna' proceed with my life.
(Partial third verse):
You're so cold.
You're words offend,
but you'll soon find, the ice is wet.
It's melting...
(altered, and split Chorus):
Well, now it's turned around.
-Say I, don't care.
I think it's you...,
(Pause in music, briefly)
I am fearing that
the end is near
as this overload, appears.
It's soon to leave.
Words are only-
words, and you won't,
keep me down.
EnD
I know this is repetitive, but it works well, (I think... <?>) vocally.
Also, as it turns out, my "ex," and I are now very close friends. It's very odd, and if you search back, I wrote a song about how those circumstances played out, called, "A Priceless Rarity". I'm not sure if many people here read my lyrics, or are interested at all, but I hope some of you do, and I hope you enjoy some of them. Take care, everyone. Later! |
