Anyone into weather at all? It's one of my greatest interests, and all this hurricane activity in the Atlantic is just really crazy to me. Don't mistake this for me saying that I enjoy the misery of those affected. I have great sympathy for all of them.
What I'm here to post about is Hurricane Wilma. If you didn't see, last night the worst part of the hurricane (the right front quadrant of the eye) slammed into Cancun, Mexico, for about six to 8 hours. The "hotel region" over to the downtown area all saw winds of around 140MPH, with some gusts reported at 150MPH. In other words, it was as intense as Katrina was when Katrina made landfall in the gulf. -Just different geography.
Now, it's about to turn towards Florida. They're all forecasting it to weaken before it hits southern Florida, but if I lived anywhere around there, I wouldn't take any chances at all with staying behind. I've learned to look at the radars, as well as all the weather maps, and I think it does have the possibility to re-organize and re-strengthen to at least a strong category 3. I don't claim to be an expert in any way, but when I predict these things, whether it's local weather or hurricane-related predictions, I'm usually pretty accurate, and sometimes i've been right when the experts have somehow been wrong.
Anyhow, I haven't seen pictures of the damage on TV, yet, but I'm hoping everyone who was caught in the storm down there is alright. Anyone in Florida, just remain calm and collected, but at the same time, use wise judgement. Later! |

Did anyone who may have read this hear about the end result? Wilma strengthened to a category 3 storm, just before landfall. Our good friend, Ron, could also feel the effects of Wilma in the next few days, because it's supposed to become a Noreaster, and bring high winds and heavy rain (not tropical in nature) to New York City, Boston, and areas around there. Life is crazy... Later! |
