Blind Pew are supporting the Subways at Gig in Edinburgh on Friday 21st October - and the band have some discounted tickets for sale!

They are on sale from the band's website - www.blindpew.com - for £5, including p&p.

Blind Pew’s dirty, yet funky, rock'n'roll style has been compared to the likes of the Rolling Stones and the White Stripes, with an interesting twist of irreverent fun thrown in for good measure. As described in a recent live review:

“Blind Pew incorporate their tongue in cheek humour into their dirty garage rock style which quite frankly works well for them” (Jockrock live review, King Tuts, 18th June 2005).

Blind Pew are old friends Andy McGregor (lead vocals and keyboard), Paul McGranaghan (guitar and vocals), Stu McIntosh (bass and vocals) and Del Lamont (drums) who decided to form the band when they realised that the only way they would ever escape small town life was to rock their way out.

Blind Pew have established themselves as one of the most promising bands on the Scottish music scene, taking Glasgow by storm in 2004, including support slots for Dogs Die In Hot Cars and Kid Symphony as well as radio features on Radio Scotland and Beat 106FM. The band rounded the year off with a Hogmanay slot at the legendary King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.

The beginning of 2005 saw the band signing a management deal with Glasgow based Dicelines. While maintaining their presence on the live scene, Blind Pew spent much of the early part of the year in the studio recording the You’re Claimed EP with the help of London based producer Gordon Rintoul (Paul Weller / Tori Amos / The Vaselines / BMX Bandits), who returned home to his native Glasgow to record the band at Cava Studios after hearing a demo.

The approach of recording with an outside influence was new for the band who are more used to working with frontman Andy McGregor behind the controls. Amongst many others, Andy has recorded Dogs Die In Hot Cars, and is currently working with them on their second album.

The You’re Claimed EP is the first release on the band’s own record label, Smokey Bear Records and consists of three new songs and reworkings of two older songs from the earlier album Fear of God, which was described by the List (May 2004) as “an infernal racket of a record – 4/5”.

Blind Pew were featured as “Artist of the Week” on Karma Download on the week of the EP’s release, being described by the download service as “a hint of glam, a generous helping of rock & roll, and more hooks than an angling supply shop having a special surplus sale.”
