People, I'm nervous... I'm about to have a third hernia surgery, within the next week or so. I guess the type of procedure I'm getting done is different than the other two, and the way the surgeon described it, could be a little more discomforting. It involves certain, more painful-sounding details, which I won't share with you, for the sake of your stomachs. Anyway, they'll be giving me perkaset (-spelling<?>), so that could make things easier. If ya' care at all, go ahead and wish me some good luck. Either way, I'm nervously ready. Later! |

RiCterman, . . . . I've had double hernia surgery twice now and I have what seems to be permanant pain . .blood clot, a staple thru a nerve and too tight mesh. . . . . . I had what they call laproscopic surgery where it is supposed to be less invasive , but it restricts the surgeons ability to really see what they're doing. I don't mean to freak you out but DO NOT get the laproscopic proceedure if you can help it. It is against the law in the UK but not here. . a lot of men over there were losing a testicle because of this proceedure. . .Please check into this because it is a serious situation . . . the old fashion way may take longer to recover from and you'll have more scarring, but it is safer man. . of course I don't know your exact situation but please do some research, take it from me. . . I lost my job and am in pain everyday, it completely changed my life, it was supposed to be a 5 to 10 day inconvenience and here it is almost 3 years later. . . My nephew had it done the old fashion way and he was fine in 2 weeks. . .The percocet will help for the pain. . . .Good luck . .
and again
Please do some research on this, there's all kinds of info on the web, I wish I did, talk to your surgeon about this and don't be shy. . .again I don't mean to freak you out, but this is a serious operation. . .
Keep the faith my friend,
Erick.................................... |

SeVven: Thanks, man. I appreciate it.
Erick: -No man, don't worry about freakin' me out. I appreciate the info.
I'm pretty sure that's the kind of procedure I'm having done, too, so I'm glad you let me know about this. I'll definitely find out some more of the details about it, and likely talk to the surgeon, as well. Also, I'm sorry to hear that it happened like that for you.
In my situation, I've already dealt with Doc's screwing around, and delaying the surgery, by way of cancellation. They didn't even tell me about it, until the day of the appointment when I called to confirm. So, now (2 1/2 weeks later) the new surgeon has told me that there is the chance I could progress from the second worst stage of a hernia, to the worst. See, the hernia I have is just below "serious." In other words, sudden, excrutiating pain will mean go to the emergency room. -Can't say that I'm not just a bit upset about what they did...
Anyway, thanks again Erick. I gotta' go eat right now. I'm lookin' forward to a nice, tasty omelet. Later! |

I forgot to mention something Doctors told me before the other two surgeries...
They told me that they take extra (-not normally needed) precautions, when performing surgical operations on diabetics, due to the possible complications that could arise because of that illness. -Like with blood clots, after an operation... Those, who are also diabetic, already know that a blood clot can be very dangerous to someone with diabetes. The reason I'm mentioning this, is because I'm a diabetic. I'm nervous, but I also know they'll be watching me very close. Anyway, there's no more to say. So, Later, everyone! |

Hope it goes well mate. But you gotta get that sponge bath the nurses do so well, but that could get awkward I guess.
All the best |

lol. Thanks, man! Depending on the nurse, that could be quite pleasant, but I'm not gonna' be staying in the hospital for this. They're gonna' send me off with some percocet, and then I'll be asleep a lot of the time.
Well, this may be one of the last posts for a while. So, take care, everyone, and thanks for all the luck. Oh yeah..., all of you guys need to make many posts, so I (and others too) can read them when I'm back. Some forums have been kinda' slow lately. Later! |

Good luck dude!
Our old guitarist had a hernia - several operations i think.
Because he was a kiwi and over here in Oz, he was on a waiting list for 10 to 12 months or something.
He pulled through fine though.
Let us know how it goes, and get well soon.

This is odd. I didn't expect to be able to get online tonight.
Anyway, the surgery went great, and though I'm in some pain, I am doing very good.
Seneki: I would've been in some trouble if I had to be on a list, like that. I guess the surgeon told me I was getting close to an emergency room trip. But, I got the mesh in me, I got my percocet, and I'm feelin' pretty good (not from the drug ) I'll be around. Later! |

-Spoke too soon... Last night I was at the Emergency Room all night, and right now I'm in some bad pain... I'm not sure what'll happen tonight, but basically they gave me three shots of morphine, and it didn't really work... I need to go now. Later... |
