Is axl really to blame for the demise for 87-93' era of gnr or will Chinese democracy be that good? I know by listening to velvet revolver exactly what they wanted to do and i was seriously dissapointed. They tried to play it safe and came up short.Slash said it himself saying axl pushed the boundries of his playing and made him do things he didn't do. axl's a legend and i think chinese democracy will be great rather it sells or not |

don't know about the new band - but I'm thinking the GNR music came from the band, not from axl. Velvet Revolver music sounds alot like GNR to me without the lead vocal.
Kindof like the Police were better than Sting solo stuff, or
Eagles were better than the solo spinoff stuff, or
Zep better than the Plant solo stuff, or
Van Halen better than the Roth solo stuff... |

Velvet Revolver is going nowhere. They have quite simply sold out. They rushed the debut album and it shows. Unless they change dramatically the second album will be just as disappointing as the debut.
Former Guns N Roses guitarist/songwriter Izzy Stradlin is probably the only ex-gunner not to sell out. He was in Velvet Revolver right at the start, he contributed about 10 songs. The only reason he didnt stick around is because Slash decided to film the band for a reality TV show on VH1 He's too cool for that kinda shit
New GNR isn't that bad. Although the only material we can judge them on are live versions it does sound pretty cool. Plus it is to their advantage that they have Tommy Stinson (former Replacements) on bass... he's cool as hell too |
