Very dark intro. Kinda of reminicant of the theme from Requiem For A Dream (i think thats the name of the movie..with jennifer connely). Im not very in touch with the ambient genre so i will do my best reviewing this track.
The strings sound good. The little tribal beat that comes in next is helped out by the panning, nice work there. Its 1:30 and not much else has changed. The counter melody at 1:44 is great. All good with the added percussion as well. I like how it follows the bass drum around my head. Seems like it should be doing more though. Very brooding tune. Quite the sad song. Sounds like it went back to the beginning at 3:20.
The strings were fantastic, but honestly this tune kinda of left me hanging. I was waiting for something that never seemed to happen. I think its deffinatly a solid framework. I would add a snare maybe around 2:30 or 3:00. I know its an ambient track, but personally i would have like to heard more percuission or more percussion style noises (like little beeps). I would also add some other noises to compliment the string part, which as i said is fantastic. The chord you create at 1:44 is awesome...so dissonant...I would use more of those to help give your track some contrast. Still a great listen, but since it was missing a good amount of variation in my opinon, I have to give it 6/10
A good listen for anybodt who likes ambient chill-out....and is sad. |
