Godin make unusual guitars for people who are looking for something different.
They stray from the accepted norms, and incorporate things like guitar synths etc.
I have never played one.
In my opinion, Ibanez and Peavey make the best if you are on a budget, I have used expensive Fender and gibsons in the past, but have found My current Ibanez Ergodyne to be the best guitar I have ever played, and it was half the price of some of the Gibson and Fenders.
At the end of the day, there is no substitute for trying a guitar out. Why dont you track one down and try it out. They have a website. Here is the link:

Happy playing.

I'm starting out with a Squier (a sub-brand of Fender) strat pack- it comes with an amp, cords, the guitar and I think a gig bag. It's reasonably cheap for what you're getting. My friend has an Ibanez and she's been pleased with it, though she hasn't played in awhile. |

Check out their website - and I would go for the deal -it's rare their guitars come up second hand and usually at a serious price so it's a good investment - I've played a few and they have a great action - really well built and expand the boundries. I got a line 6 acoustic variax in the end because I liked the wieght of it (coming from SG land) |
