GHM Unsigned (UPDATED)

Ok i run a magazine called Gamers Heaven Magazine (GHM), it has a circulation of around 20,000 readers and is a free publication viewable on Sony's PSP. Recently we have been discussing ways to brach out from purly a games magazine to a lifestyle magazine for gamers. so now we will be including technology video and music.

this is when i came up with the idea for GHM unsigned, rather than fill a magazine with illegal MP3's of the same old stuff everyone is sick of listening to on the radio, i want to bring new talent to our readers. i have used the PHPnuke block for this site on my sites in the past and have been very impressed by the overall quality of the music created by you guys. So with that in mind here was my first place to offer the services of GHM Unsigned.

now you may be wondering what GHM Unsigned is all about, well the magazine will consist of the following:

A media pack of MP3's about 10 tracks per issue,

A mini mag with a few pages dedicated to each artist appearing in the media pack.

the prupose of GHM Unsigned is to bring new talent together with a new audience. This is a free service for everyone who wishes to have there music heard by a wider audience

So how does it work? Well anyone who's interested should send the tracks they wish to put forward for inclusion to unsigned(AT)gamersheavenmag.com. we will listen to each track and include the submissions we feel would work best in the next issue of the magazine. we intend to release this magazine once a month but if there is a lot of demand for it we will reduce this to every 2 weeks. it all depends how many tracks we recieve. the compliactio each month will be a mixed bag with about 2 tracks from each genre...

please let me know what you guys thing of this idea and if you're interested in it or have any ideas or questions.

yes, we will work closly with all artists that submit stuff and will notify anyone if they make it into the mag. we will also share feedback we receive with anyone who wants to see them. we may also look into running features on certain artists if they are popuar with the readers Smile

just let me know what you uys would like and we'll see if we can do it, the aim is to make this idea as benificial to everyone as possible, so we're open to all suggestions Smile

Ok we now have 3 artists lined up for the first issue. The Blow Ups, Comeg and U4eA. Smile

We will release more information soon about the exact content of this new magazine, watch this space Smile

Ok add: Submerse and the Golden Handshakes to the list and you have one hell of a first issue. but i am personally calling out for more electronica/dance/trance/house music Smile

so come on guys electronica is currently out numbered 4 - 1 by bands! Razz

Well at the moment we're workin our ass's off getting the 3rd issue of GHM together so i'll have it when i attend Games Market Europe so i can get support for the project (GME is a trade only event attended by all the big names in gaming from EA to Codemasters Cool

) the first Issue of GHM Unsigned is expected to be released early september. as we're still working on a format for the magazine itself. we will need to collect some information from each artist too things like a bio, a pic, web address, and other information like that. we will have a standard way of submitting this info soon. so i'll keep you posted on whats happening.

as for format, the magazine will be the same format as our main GHM publication, which you can check out on the GHM site www.gamersheavemag.com. more info as it happens Smile

Quick Update: GHM Unsigned has about 6 artists/bands signed up for issue one so far and we will most likely run with this amount instead of waiting for another few. i will be doing up a qick form to get info from each artist so we can put the mag together. one of the main reasons for the delay was my recent trip to london for GME, which went really well for our project and i even had the oppertunity to interview people like Phil Harrison the executive vice president of Sony Computer Entertainment Smile

We will be starting work on the GHM unsigned section of the GHM site from tomorrow (monday 5th) and will beging the compilation of the magazine as soon as we get all the info we need from each artist, the form should be online tomorrow along with the new features of the main site. as always you can visit GHM online at www.gamersheavenmag.com
