I wish people would leave a rating or review

I wish people would leave a rating or comment on tracks they have listened to.

I am guilty of this also, but from now on whenever I listen to anyones tracks on the UBW, I am going to try and leave a rating or a comment, and that way, people will know what is thought of their stuff.

I have had a few listens of tracks on my page, but without any feedback, I dont know if the tracks have been liked or disliked.

Great point dagon..... Whether you like a song or not, everyone should leave some kind of constructive feedback. It's how we all get better.

I agree. I mean... look how many people have left a review for this submition. This is kind of sad. Aren't there a few thousand members on this site? LETS GET IT TOGETHER, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Dagon,

Can I recommend you put a link to your band page in your sig file so it's easier for folks to go listen to your tunes?

I'm very guitly of not rating alot of tunes I listen to. If I do rate it it's often because it's a tune that stands out above the crowd and I usually rate very good in that case. If I don't like stuff I generally won't rate at all - or don't post a comment.

There's honestly alot of music that doesn't do much for me - often resulting in no comment. Early on I tried to post a lot more song feedback but it got to be very difficult to keep finding a constructive way of saying something isn't working for me.

Dude i agree with u. Man if u go out of the limb to put ur shit up on a site at least people can leave feedback. I thhink that it should some how be put in. WELL PEACE

right on Dagon ! I try and rate songs at much as possible , but as far as leaving comments on the comments link, I don't want to put my email address there, . . I'm sure there is a way the webmaster can change this ? maybe make it optional . . I do try and leave feedback for people that ask for it in the forums . .but I don't like to leave negative comments as some members do. . if I don't have anything good to say then I won't say anything at all . . constuctive criticism is fine , but out and out harsh negative comments are uncalled for. .

Hi Erick. Liked your stuff by the way. I agree with the out and out harsh comments. I have seen a couple recently that were just slanging matches in the forums. I never listen to anyones stuff and and judge it on technical ability. I dont think you have to be a guitar wiz or technical magician to come up with interesting music. Look at Neil Young for Christs sake. He is one of my favourite artists, and probably one of the biggest out there, but no one could call him a technical wiz. Sometimes I think its the creation that counts, and the love that someone may have put into what it is they are doing. that is what always shines through for me.

I will admit that I review stuff sometimes that is not my cup of tea, but then my own stuff is probalby not everyones cup of tea either. I checked out some rap stuff recently by DMS a track called Cupid shot me. I though it was really good.

I think people should remember that not everyone may be at the same stage of development when it comes to music and writing. While some acts or individuals may have been at it for years, others may only have picked up the guitar this week. Does that mean that they shouldnt write and be creative because they may be technically inexperienced? I dont really think so.

I myself have been playing for years, but only recently started to really concentrate on writing and recording my own stuff. I know myself that it may not be up to scratch sound wise or recording wise, but at the end of the day, I enjoy doing it, and I have had some favourable comments left, so I am happy to continue.

Negative comments will only demoralise people and maybe prevent them from progressing through their music.

Anyway, thats my 2 cents on the matter.

I have noticed though when I leave comments on peoples sites, it does allow me to check a box if I dont want to leave an e-mail address.

Anyway, peace and love everybody, and thoughts for all those in the states affected by hurricane katrina this week, we are all with you.

ps:I know about the email check box in the comments, but you still have to fill it out in order to register your comment, . I guess I'm paranoid about passing out my email, . we get enought bullshit spam from having our email out there as it is . .
