Hi Spank...

We are working on the issue right now. We added some functionality to make sure band names & song names show up when streaming songs, and for some reason Windows Media Player (and apparently AOL's player) are having troubles with this. All other players are working fine. The problem seems to be confined to hi-fi streams too, which is even more odd!

Just so you know, it's across the site, it's not just your songs. (FYI some bands songs will play hifi depending on the bit rate they were coded at) We should have this fixed this weekend.

Sorry for the problem....
Ron

Ok I think I just got things sorted out. Let me know if all is well with AOL player now.

Thanks!

Hey Ron, what would be the ideal bit rate for the hi-fi songs to upload to the site. I seem to have the same problem continuosly for any hi-fi song I try to listen to with the aol player. It's not just my site but most of the other pages as well. Help!

mistazell..

The 'ideal' bit rate for hifi (in my opinion) is 128kbps. There are certainly those that would argue for 'higher' bit rates, but I think for most internet connections, 128 streams very quick and the sound quality is very good.

For what it's worth, I have heard of some issues with AOL player, and Real Player with streaming .m3u files (which is what all of our songs are streamed as). I am looking into it, but if you have another streamer, would you mind testing to see if it's only the AOL streamer.

I'll let you know when I figure out why those 2 streamers are having problems.

it's only the aol streamer and real player. I have musicmatch jukebox and that works fine. I thought my files were corrupted but that's not the case. Please let me know when or if you have fixed the problem.

mistazell..

Alright... I'm fine playing with realplayer from here on windows xp. You may need to make sure it's setup to play .m3u files. (mine was set correctly by default)..

Regarding AOL Media PLayer does NOT support mp3 streaming. They support downloading of mp3's to your local pc and then playing, but not streaming through an .m3u file. I'm sure this was an oversight on their part as ALL media players will stream. I'll see if a a patch is available that will allow AOL media player to stream. Until then, I suggest you use another player.
