Hi jeff

I know very well statue records and recieved their mails , offers and contratcs monthes ago. But didn't return the coontract for some reasons.

If ya want more details ya can pm me.

If ya want I can send ya their contract and offer.

My point of view : nothing really bad in their contract (except that 100$ condition but you can avoid it) But nothing really good for ya. it doesn't cost anything, but doesn't help at all!

cheers

peace and take care

sharks are everywhere.....

peace (again?)

alek

on the other hand ppl like Bondango or Dcallen on soundclick (sorry ron) accept their offer...ya can ask them if it was a good deal (bondango is registered here too......)

this was somebody elses experience with statue records, they also did a bit of research,

Hi all,

I did post this on the site but I guess I didn't post it in the right spot.

I posted this a couple of days ago. Please read on.

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if this is the place where I should add this information but I hope management would help out and make sure all viewer read the following.

Today, I was excited as I received an email from a A&R rep stating he was interested in my music and stated he would consider my music for a Record Contract. Like most of us we are excited as hell. Not to say that I don't trust anyone, but I am always a little cautious when it comes down to anyone taking an advantage of my hours of hard work.

After doing research I did find out information about this A&R rep and contract. I did manage to find out from another site and artist that the email that I received was indeed the same one I was sent today.

Sooo,,,, to make a long story short, here is the information I received and I am passing it along to you all and asking you to be cautious. Maybe the site administrators can assist in this topic and I would appreciate any advice they have.

Here is the information that was posted on a forum. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS. I received the same email stating they listened to my music through this site.

EMAIL:

Okay I got contacted by these jokers and at first thought WOW, but stopped myself from going overboard..A friend help me look up their references from the BBB and I also saw some of their "work" on soundclick. Apparently people are paying this "record company" to make cd's and cassettes for them..Anyhow, if that's what you are looking for great, but they make it sound like you have a cut... Here's what the BBB had to say about this company

Statue Records

We rate this company as having an unsatisfactory business performance
record.

One complainant alleges the CD's or cassettes were not delivered after paying the required fees for a " recording contract " . To date, this complaint remains unanswered.

We suggest careful evaluation of the offer. Most well known recording companies are in business to make a profit, thus they will only accept songs and music they feel they can successfully promote. Such companies do not charge you fees. You can obtain a list of recording companies and promoters from Billboard Magazine's International Buyers Guide, P.O. Box 2016, Lakewood, New Jersey 08701. Or call 800-344-7119.

Also, Here's a copy of the email they sent me

Regarding the materials on your web site.
I am interested in the materials on your site. Statue is a major
independent record company and would like to discuss the possibility of
releasing this material and doing some radio promotion on it.
If your record is available for licensing and distribution please contact
me at your earliest opportunity by sending me an email to
wr@statuerecords.com

Now If I am majorly wrong about this company somebody let me know..I'm impressed though they must think my work is good enough to scam me on it

recent email sent to statue from me. fair warning don't waste your time with these clowns....

HEllo Geoff,
well its been over a year signed with your label, and just curious what the $100 was for. I mean, come on, "available now" with no links to purchase the cd. and don't blame it on the website change, cause I have been keeping an eye on both and nothing. our cd isn't even listed on the new site. I know building websites takes some time. but since we have signed with you. I have built numerous sites to promote our music. it takes about a total of 20 minutes at the most to make a webpage and place a link.
since you are the one to contact me and offered me to sign. I think it is up to YOU to PERSONALLY see that our cd has a link to purchase and our name listed in the artist roster.
like I've told you numerous times before, I went through alot of shit to be able to come up with the money to get "listed" on your site. and I fail to see what we paid for.

so here is the thing, since it is passed our cutoff date to break the contract if this issue isn't resolved soon and our cd isn't available (not just saying available and no link) then I WILL expect my $100 back to give back to the people that gave it to me to be "listed" on your site.
some of the people are not even in the band and they contributed a bigger percentage than those who are. and I would like to be able to send them some cd's for thier trouble. but it is hard when there isn't even a link to "buy" the damn thing.
and I will be forced to take legal action and cancel our contract next year.
I don't want to do this because I have faith in what you are trying to acomplish but my faith is just about to its wits end. since it has been over a year and still nothing from Statue.
I hope you understand where I am coming from. when you buy something you expect to get what you paid for and for it to be what the seller said it was. well you are the seller, I paid you now see that you hold up your end of the deal.

a good faith gesture.....how about you send me some of our cd's, 20 should do for now, as a good faith gesture so I can at least send them to the people that gave the money. I think that is worth the hassle of all the emails and questions I get on when the cd version of From The Ashes will be available for sell.
you should already have my snal mail to send the cd's but here it is again

p.s. I don't want to hear that I need to talk to someone else, I don't want to hear that the website is being updated. or any of the other excuses you have given me this past year.
I just want you to do what the hell is right buy your name and company. prove everyone wrong and get us listed properly, and do us right

Ouch.....sound like proper sharks to me. Unfortunately my experience has been that the more flattering and the sweeter the deal....the greater the odds of it being a con job. Sorry to hear that your good faith has been taken advantage of. For waht it's worth, I have found a number of really cool industry people who will listen and will help. They tend to be accredited, reputable music lawyers funnily enough! If anyone is seriously jaded then I suggest contacting one. They'll speak openly and some times say stuff you'd rather not hear, but in the long run, it means something!
Keep on keepin on!
