Alright everyone,
I just posted "Symbolics" yesterday, and I usually like to space the lyric posts out a bit, but for some reason I have the urge to post "Recollections" right now, instead of waiting another day or two. So, I'm just gonna type this one out now. I'd say that this song is more personal than "Symbolics", but not nearly as personal as "The Black Hole Manifestival". Let me know whatcha' think about it. Also, again, any criticisms are welcomed. Sit down, and enjoy......
"Recollections"
Recalling all that was,
and seeing it's true value.
It was in the past
when the greatest thought was, "Can't do."
I turned into a Lion
when I used to be a mouse.
There's no regret for trying,
but attempts gained no amount...
of... clarity.
But now...
(Chorus):
I see- in full transparency.
I take it in.
The wall is down.
I don't feel low,
though I don't know
if certainty fits the situation,
but for now
I see through transparency,
and I glow.
The blazing of the sun
comes back into view.
The season seemed to last;
It seems like more than most could live through.
I know that I was dying,
but I found the greatest plow.
I almost halted trying
to leave all sight and sound.
(I) could barely breathe,
but now...
(2nd run Chorus)
(Bridge):
I was fading.
It all became dismal.
Every moment awake was a struggle.
Would you say
that the term awake severs
consideration of the state of the subconscious mind?
No human mind could know
the answer that is absolute. Never...
I choose to care
more about what is present now.
Now I see that we may never find
that answer in a world of doubt.
(Outro):
All that matters
is the rarity inside.
-For that there is no doubt.
The proof is there,
within renewal.-
(EnD)
Well, you guys know what to do. I praise each of you who have replied so far. It's only been a few, or so, but hey... The way I see it, any feedback works for me. Thanks a lot for that! I'll be somewhere around here, unless a flock of birds turns on me. Who knows what would come of that?? Yeah... uh, I'm completely drug free now, and 99.999991% of the time. I swear it.
Cheers and a Smile!

I really like that line. Very cool!
The flow of the words feels natural, and the points are made very well without getting to cliche. Great job!!! |

Thanks Ron,
That line took some time to write. Some people don't know how long it takes some writers to "pen" exactly what they want to be on the paper. One time, I sat down to write a song, and I got stuck on four or five of the lines. By the time the song was finished a little over four hours had gone by. It didn't seem to be a long time, until I looked at the clock. Thanks again!
theblacks,
I'm not getting a big head or anything, but I don't know what to say to that. I guess the only thing to say is I really appreciate it. Thanks again, and Cheers!

Thank you very much. This song is very special to me, because it was inspired by the drastic change in how I was feeling, very close to that time. I'm pretty sure I said that early on in the thread, so if I just repeated it, my apologies. |
