Why is it that only one of the lo fi streams that I uploaded displays the tag(song info) and the others do not display it when streamed? I encode all of my material with tags. And it's not even the one with the highest bit rate either. Weird! |

For some reason my last post was registered as "guest" even though I'm not else I wouldn't be able to upload songs to begin with right? Anyway, one of the features that I like most here at club UBW is that we can choose the bit rate of the MP3 that we're uploading. By contrast, over at Soundclick(bless their pointed little heads) they only let you upload a 128kbs file(for hi fi!) and then they encode it to a horrible-sounding 24kbps for lo fi. I'm diggin' the freedom of choice here! |

Thanks for the awesome feedback. I too like the freedom to choose!!

THis is a random issue that (i think) is a cache issue. Most of the time your song should show the proper tags, but occasionally it will just show stream, etc.. I am working on an upgrade to the streamer that will hopefully fix that issue.

Minus man I hope this tid bit sheds some light on the streaming tag issue. I've noticed that one of my tunes("Somewhere Else") consistently displays the tag info(except on the radio) even though it's only encoded to 48kbs while the other ones encoded at 64kbs do not. The thing is that before uploading the 48 kbs version I had a 128kbs(Hi Fi) version(my first post) which also displayed the tag info correctly and consistently. I subsequently deleted the Hi Fi version and left only the Lo Fi. Could it be that the tag info was somehow retained on your server or something? BTW, the others were never posted at the 128kps resolution.
Hope this somehow helps resove the streaming mystery issue. |

That sounds possible. The server could retain mp3 info from a previous "hi-fi" version of the song.
Just to clarify your comments:
You signed up and uploaded Somewhere Else at 128 kbps, which showed correctly. You deleted the hi-fi version, but left a lo-fi version of the song, which STILL shows the mp3 info correctly.
You seperately uploaded other songs at 64 kbps which do NOT show the tags correctly EVER.
If I understand that correctly I have a couple of questions.
>Are you sure the 64 kbps songs had tags BEFORE you uploaded them?
>What software are you using to downsample your 128 kpbs songs?
THanks for your help with this! I would LOVE to get this one ironed out... |

The 64kbps files were all encoded correctly and they always display the tag info when I play them offline(from my hard drive or my portable mp3 player, etc.). But the bigger issue is that I think I may have inadvertently thrown you off course. On closer inspection there apperars to be no consistency whatsoever and I now believe that the display problem is indeed random. My apologies |

Minus you're my idol. You fixed the streaming tag proplem didn't you. That's great, now all my music displays the song info. Nice job! Much better than just seeing the word stream. |

I'm afraid that was only true for that one day there. In fact, I can now reaffirm my original assertion that only the track that was originally uploaded at hi fi(128kbps)and then replaced with the lo fi(48kbps) version consistently displays the tag information. Strange! I'm not bitching, I just hope this info helps resolve the problem. |
