Whats in a name........

Is there a story that lies behind your user/screen name?
Mittins: we were laying down bass tracks for a song on a day I should have been doing anything but playing bass, my drummer was frustrated with me and said it sounded like I was playing with mittins on. Sad

My other name, forty1hz, refers the the resonant frequency of one of my bass cabs. Neutral

I started out with the stage name Don Brooks (DON Williams and Garth BROOKS....I though Bob Springsteen or Bruce Dylan might of been taking the piss a little. Laughing

)

Brooksy became a nick-name around the then Brooksy Camp (now disbanded due to the fact I hate the f***** lot of them for screwing up what I had written.)

So Brooksy has kinda stuck...even friends call me that now....it's kinda surreal when half the bars shouting.."Hey...Will..come here"...and the other half is saying..."Hey Brooksy, mate...wanna nother beer?)

smili happens to be my email name where I work. It started about 10 years ago in the early days of computer networks and office email, and if you could remember someone's email name it was much easier to type that to send an email than having to look them up in your directory. So... I guess many of us were all kindof nerdy and started calling each other by email names. Mine caught on and many people at work still call me that. I still call some of my buds at work by their email name too. Stuff like evoss or ddurk or kwooe... Strange how that kindof stuff sticks.

hehe, this is a cool thread.

So it all began about 3 years ago,when i was living in colorado. I had been making music for quite sometime, but i had only made techno for a couple years. Also i was using a diffrent name (Generation Rx). I had just started spinning records cause i figured that is the best way to get my music heard; and meet someone who was actually pretty well known in the industy (he didnt have a day job). During one of our conversations he was saying that a good dj shouldn't name himself, he should have someone else name him cause it would fit better.

So me and one of my long time friends were talking about license plates we would put on our pretty cars, he came up with 'CHPU4EA' (cheap euphoria). Then he looked at me and said that is what i should name my CD i was making at the time. It fit pretty well, but i obviously i cut the first part. Now that i think about it, i kinda base the style of my music after my name. also I needed i name i could tell my folks and not blush haha...

Mine is my initials in this life because imagination didn't run in the family up until now. Laughing

and it was the quickest way to write my name as the letters grouped together nice and easy which is the story of my life.
My earliest memory was hearing the words, "..for crying out loud, woman, just get it over with and give birth !"
I have flashbacks when ever I drive past a maternity hospital. Speed is eveything I gotta post this straight away Laughing
