Hi there. I have a question to any singers/vocalsits who read this; I lead a band; hard rock with experimentation, different angles to the usual, and the vocalist in the band is experienced and to my ears has a good, going on very good voice.
My question; he enjoys opening his lungs and drawing notes out which works for the music half the time. When he does this, his voice has a vibrato that seems to be quite thin, maybe coming from the pallete I think and it doesn't always sound good to my ears. Is this a bad technique, meaning that he can rectify it by getting some tuition or does it sound like it might be out of choice? If anyone has an answer of some sort for me it would be very much appreciated.
I am ready to talk to him about this, but I want to know more about the scenario before I do so. I'm a trained guitarist with many years experience, but vocals are not my forte.
In advance, thanks.
