So while I'm working on recording new songs, I'll just upload this one, which I recorded to be the last track on my "A Proposed Future" album.
"Born Into Paradise" was, like "Release Me" a song directed toward my father; written around the same time. I just liked the song so much that, even though there are no hard feelings between the two of us, I just had to record it anyway.
This one's a little different. I only say that because I had lost my voice prior to the recording and had barely recovered it by the time I made it. So the vocal track is quite different compared to my other songs.
In any case, let me know what you think about "Born Into Paradise."
Thanks,
Jack |

Maisie.... Listening to Born Into Paradise now...
I really like the melody and your vocals overall. However it sounds like your vocals are maxing out the inputs on the recording, which is distracting. It sounds like your guitar may have been slightly out of tune. Still all in all a good song with good lyrics!
Take care!

You say in the artist note you struggled to even sing the song cause you had been screaming alot the week prior. Well then, dont record the song, wait for you voice to heal and then record the song. As an artist you have the choice whether or not to let everyone hear your songs before they are finished. In my opinion, this song is not finished. It should be redone when you voice is in better condition. Good songs are like perfect moments, they come along once in a while and you try and enjoy them when they are there and share that enjoyment with as many people as you can. Anyone can record alot of songs and throw them up on the web, but an artist on top of his/her game will record many songs but only release the ones that are of the best quality and content. Always put your best work forward, if someone hears that song first they may judge on the basis of that song alone. Its sad but true.
Also, how are you recording your music? The quality is not the best in my opinion. |

Also, you really need to tune your guitar. I've listened to several of your songs and your guitar seems out of tune in most.
I see potential in your work, but it seems sloppy. Work with a song till it is polished then re-evaluate it to see if it meets the expectations of what you invision in your mind. |

Thank you Ron and AkoostikNstl for the feedback.
Ron for the positive and Akoostik Nstl for the negative. Of course, I can't improve without criticism, so I do appreciate it.
As far as the vocals in this song go... I intentionally recorded while I was recovering so I could have that different sound. I actually think it (the vocals) sounds pretty good.
My guitar was slightly out of tune; I've been taking care of that lately and I will be re-recording this one. Also, I use a capo in almost every one of my songs... which can distort the tuning a bit. I've been using a twenty dollar microphone hooked up to my computer to record (are you kidding me? I'm a college student! I can't afford real equipment!). In any case, I've just recently begun working with Adobe Audition to get some multi-track songs out.
Enough excuses; I'll work on things... but I shouldn't be expected to release "final" copies... there's no such thing.
